I went to walmart and got this foam weather stripping that is used for like around windows during cold weather. It had double sidded tape on it. Worked fine for me and was cheap.

I wouldn't recommend the silicone unless you're certain you can get it in place in one shot. I had to remove mine several times before I got it to sit properly. I even had to use the hammer on the lower right corner to allow it to fit with my Edelbrock headers. I used weatherstriping from Lowe's made for sealing camper shells on pickup beds. It's thin and works very well.

You test fit it and make sure its sittin to your liking, smear some silicone on there and your done, bolt it up and clean off any acces with a rag and some thinners, thats all.

I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, but why do you need weatherstripping or silicone at all? It's not like you need a perfect seal. Mine sits visibly flush, but I'm sure it's not airtight.
Now if it actually had bent edges and you stick a finger under it, then yeah, that's a different story.
