Question on changing single folddown seat to 2 piece folddown rear seat

Hi all!
I picked up a 2 piece rear folding seat (top section).
Has anyone changed their one piece rear back seat to the 2 piece rear back seat.
The top section is what I need to know about.
Is there something else I should have grabbed to make it work?

Thanks,

George

Theres a rod/mount on the tunnel for the 2 piece seats. The seat back slid onto the rod and then bolt in like the 1 peice does. The rod is the inside pivot point.

The rod is welded to the body. You could easily replicat that with a piece of metal dowel. You'll just need to figure out the location to mount it.

...or take a cordless sawzall to the junkyard and cut out the section you need. You also need the bolt (post) for the other seat to lock on too (your car had one, need another like it).

Thanks guys!
I had forgot about that center mounting tab (or whatever it's called).
I have these seat sitting in my storage shed, and was thinking on using them on one of my cars!
Now, I'll have to go look for that at a yard!

Again, thanks,

George

O.K.,
New question.
Can you install the single top peice rear folding seat onto a car with the 2 peice top rear folding seat bracket still in place, or do you need to remove it?

Just wondering,

George

Thanks for the info!
I was concerned about the pegs poking a hole into the one piece rear seat top.
Does it clear enough, or is it the pegs that keep the seat from folding down all the way?

George, I installed a single piece seat in my car (it originally had the split rear seat) with no problems from the peg.

For bit I had a set of Camaro 4th gen seats (solid seat bak) in my 87 that was equip with the split rear seat. We got the seat back in and it kind of folded...same for the 82 PMD rear seat back. But it was always a pain to latch in hte upright position! I think the stress killed the latch pin on my drivers side. Thing will not screw in anymore! But now I'm back to the split rear backs! Much better!
