83 z28 hood air induction question??help please
Hello, I have a 83 Z28, with a steel hood. The indentation for the two areas that look like air induction lanes on mine are blocked by what looks like two rectangular plugs. They seem to be firmly in place, maybe bolted on underneath the hood???? I have a four brl. carb, can these two plugs be unbolted to let in fresh air for the motor, or are they welded in? I would like to open it up to get more air, but would need to be able to close them quickly if it started to rain. It would be great if somehow they would open and close either with the acceleration of the car, or with even a open/closed cable. I would appreciate any thoughts, I really like my car, all black/black inter.only has 64k org. miles, runs great, do not want to mess it up or cause a problem. I have a manual fan switch to cool the engine, but thought it might run even cooler and faster if I could open those 2 plugs. What do you think??? Thanks,
Dennis

On the steel hood, the plugs each have two studs that go through the hood and are secured by nuts on the underside of the hood. However, simply removing them wont accomplish anything, since the hood is solid behind the plugs other than the two mounting holes.
