Need paint help!

Hi im new to the forums but anywho i have an 89 rs gunmetal gray but it's a maaco job and paint is spidering and pealing everywhere. I might have a cowl hood before i paint if i have the money if not i will add it later after i paint.

I'm doin the job myself with brothers help and i just bought a 5hp air compressor and paint gun.

For the longest time i've been considering hugger orange(69) and recently bought a pint to see how it will look but im still on the fence.

How about Hugger Orange with white heritage stripes or white with orange heritage stripes. I want a color that will stand out but this will also be my everyday driver. ( I'm only 17)

Suggestions and comments would be much appreciated

White with hugger orange stripes would look Awesome. White will be a lot more forgiving and doesn't have to be perfect to look good.

Yea white would be much easier to paint since it shows less flaws.

But should i strip the car to bare metal or just use paint thinner and make it all smooth.

The dupont guy told me just use paint thinner all around and make it smooth, and i havce a goldball size dent in quarter panel. bondo is the best and easiest way isn't it?

Thanks for the help.

bondo is the easiest way. if your going to do multiple coats, wet sand in between coats and it will look amazing. my friend has a black chevelle that has been wet sanded and is smooth as all hell. the paint looks like glass.

Hahahahah, thinner, that will make a nice mess that will take weeks to clean up for you. Who da **** told you that, you dont strip nothing, get yourself some sandpaper and get to some sandin buddy.

Hey, 89 RS, I have an 88 IROC sitting in my garage right now painted with the 69 Camaro hugger orange. No stripes. i have some pics of it. If ya wanna see, em, I can email em to ya. If you see it, you wont be on the fence anymore. These cars look AWESOME with that color. I dont know why in the he!! the factory never did it. Solid orange is the only way to go, well for me, anyway. I have a friend who has an 88 IROC needing a paint job, and as soon as I get mu hands on it, it getting Hugger orange, too!!

The dupont guy said to use paint thinner and thin to a single cote then prime over that then paint. i guesse that is not the way to go =).
