febreze works pretty good on interior that smells like smoke, previous owner was a smoker and after giving my car a good downfall of febreze it was a lot better.

Your interior needs to Air out for a while.
After I quit smoking two years ago, I scubbed the carpet and seats and then used a steam cleaner, but the smell still lingered. What finally removed the smell was time and air. After about 2 months, the smell was gone.

take it to a used car dealer and throw him some cash and see if they will do it- some of them have some nice machines that will take out any smell- including smoke, i noticed i rarley smell smoke in a pre owned car- and ALOT of people smoke in their cars.

Rent or borrow an ozone generator. After it sits in the car for a few hours the odor will be gone along with mildew and bacteria. I have access to one and my car has always had the new car freshness.

Guy that owned my 87 before me smoked in it. I used some smoke-off (or something like that) and it was fine.

the guy that owned my car before me used to smoke cigars in it from time to time, that wasn't a pleasant smell when I bought it. had it professionally steam cleaned and that got 90% of the smell out, but what totally got rid of the smell was letting it sit in the garage with the windows down, and always driving it with the windows down as well.

Getting rid of the smoke smell is one thing. Loosing the association of lighting up when you sit in yer car is quite another.

Good luck. It's a royal PITA to quit but so worth it. Here is my motivation to stay off smokes:

Make sure you take apart your console and clean the inside of it out, a lot of ashes end up trapped inside of it.

good luck qutting. I have been smoke free 2 years now. Tough to do. As for the smell hang a Blue Tree and a Green Tree from your rearview that should do it.

the easiest way to quit is never to start...

i aggree with the steam cleaner method, find some place that does a good job and tell them the only thing you want taken out of the car is the smell

or you could burn inscents and buy like 40 air fresheners and febreze and air freshener. i wonder if that oust stuff will work? says it kills like 99% of all airborn bacteria it comes in contact with, maybe buy a couple cans of that and hose 'er down

Now's a little late for him to hear that..........

I've also heard of the ozone generator, but never used one. Time, continuous cleaning, and fresh air.

It will go away over time make sure you get rid of all the ashes that fell benith your shifter. Good job on quiting i havent had a Cig in almost 2 years. The first 3 weeks are the hardest. I still have cravings it sux but keep it up you will feel 100 times better not being dependent on them i used to smoke 2 packs a day you will also notice you are saveing money too which means you can buy cool parts for your car.

Fast RS is right, I have lots of things I bought with money I use to waste on cigs. I've got a nice battery charger/tender and new floormats and a host of other things that are still around instead of just drifting out the window like smoke.

My g/f found some site and she put in how many cigs i smoked a day and price per pack i am now saveing like 4000 a year i think it was. IT seems like 5 dollars here 5 dollars there but it adds up i was spending 70 a week on cigs. Only time i miss them is when im at a party driving or when i need a quick pick me up. I am now addicted to red bull since i quit lol

The only thing that will do the job is the ozone generator. They cost about $550, but a good interior detail shop will have them. Ask them what the cost is to desmoke the car.

I was recently at a mobile tech expo in Orlando and they were selling them there. They ran out of inventory because it's a known working product and dealers use outside vendors for used car detailing. The guys at the expo were the vendors that dealers use!!
