2 Questions concerning my baby!!

i finally after 6 months am stripping my car down and gonna repaint it. well i noticed there's these small blackish greyish spots, they look like i burnt the metal when sanding but i grind them away and they come back, is this rust under the surface coming back to haunt me?

second question, has anyone ever heard of certifit? if so are they any good for replacement quarter panels and body parts? they are SUPER cheap and i think that's a hint they might be TOO good of a deal. i just want to know if they make reliable and strong metal replacements.

thanks!

sounds like surface rust, are you keeping moisture away from the bare metal? how long has it been sanded down bare? it could just be flash rust from moisture.

Are u just burning the metal when u are grinding it?I have never saw blackish greyish rust before.I think we use certifit at work. They are most likly made in twain. I would sand the paint off them Front and back and use some good etching primmer. For fit when u do a quarter u pretty much have to make it fit no matter what company they came from. Even GM ones don't fit right.

how long has it been sanded down bare
This is a very good question... It reads as if you have been working on stripping this for a while. If you only have a few hours a night to spend, (unless you're going to do it in a day or a weekend.) the best way to strip a car and protect it is to do one panel at a time.

it was stripped 2 nights ago, and has been bare for 2 days now, but the black spots showed up on day 1. and it's not from burning the metal, some of the spots will go away after sanding them and some will come back. will rust converter do the trick?

Sounds like you had something starting there underneath the e-coat. Get good heat in the area that you're working, sand all of the bare metal and get it protected. Either an epoxy or etching primer will do.
Remember, if you wait too long, you will have to scuff your product again before you use your fill primer.

What i mean about the GM ones is u still have to make them fit. i have never but a quarter on that fits right on. U have to play with them ,line everthing thing up. So u will have to do the same with a aftermarket one to.
