Now i know that this qwestion is probably asked way too often but im new here and actually fairly new to f-body as well, my previous vehice was a '94 sunbird, that i turbo charged and NOSed for more power, yet was unsatisfied, so i traded it strait-across for my bird. but im just trying to get some ideas for my new project-bird. Mainly interior for now but as many and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

Well considering the fact that I took a simple american J-Body and made it into a **** eater from hell, yea I can see your point but the fact remains that I was cornered as far as what more i could do to it, face it a 12.92 1/4 mile just fot old after a while, and it's also time for a new project, I had the sunbird done for a couple of years running 12.92s all day long on sundays and I lost a lot of interest in the car, wanting something that would be a little challenge and as far as money, well i make enogh to be able to sink about 1500 a month into the car, therefore the 305 was just fine.

Tell me what. Save about 2 months worth, take out that 305 and throw it away, and get a 350 TPI. Then yourll be happy

build the car than the motor,
start of by beautification, redoing interor parts such as door lock actuators, headliner, nice paint job,
move onto redoing that old suspension, coil over kit, tublar a-arms, sub frame connectors, and new bushings and rod ends all around,

move onto the brakes go ahead and do a c5 brake conversion all around its cheap and good brakes,

once you got the brakes done go ahead and get a rear end that can handle like a moser 12bolt with like a 3.27 posi

now you can build your motor do something built and fast
start of using a 350 block with a stroker kit for a 383, all forged internals with a medium cam from 1,500-6,000 cam, roller rockers 1.6, nice afr 195 heads alumnium, as far as your intake goes i would go with either accel super ram, or holley stealth ram they both will scream to 6500, super ram is better but 3x the price, now that you have your self a built strong *** low 12 second all motor throw on a ati intercooled procharger.. and your done

Both, a street legal strip car, but in time It'll have all the modern-day conveniences of an '02 trans am, Im just trying to get some suggestions on how to get it there. but to better answer your qwestion, a strip-able car that will do well on the 1/4 yet act and look monumental on the street.

Don't mess with a 350TPI motor, get an LS1 with heads/cam, etc... a built 4L60E and a nice 4600 Yank Converter and call it a day. The next day after the rear end breaks, get a Strange 12 bolt with some nice Baer Brakes on the rear.

You should be able to hit low 11's/high 10's if you keep the car on a diet.

Smog is not a tested unit in SoDak, Remember guys this is hickvill of the usa, if there are vehicles that do have legal emitions, it's because it's brand new.

boy alot of guys are jumping on the motor band wagon here. if the 305 runs good and is dependable then like one guy said in this thread already, redo the int like you want it, swap out all the suspension for stiffer parts, bigger and better brakes and rear end etc. no sense in being in a big hurry to yank to 305 unless if it is dead, instead fix the other things that will need to be beefed up for the torqer motor.
all this talk about dropping in a faster more h.p. motor and only one guy said to get a diff rear end. some of you forget that to have that 11 sec (saying 11 sec b/c he was bored with his old car) car you have to do more than just simply swap in a high h.p. motor??exhaust, sub frame connectors and possibly a roll bar, tranny, rear end, suspension, brakes, are all the main things that will have to be addressed.a fast motor a luring idea but do your project right the 1st time and you will be so much happier.
