custom headliner work

I've been tossing around the idea for a while of embossing the word CAMARO at the front of my headliner. By embossing I mean having the letters stick out from underneath the cloth. I've heard of this done before and was wondering if anybody else has done something like this.

I'd get a new headliner board (abs) if you're going to do that. Because the second the fabric peels away from the stock board, its not going to stay back on. But yea, like the idea.

ok here is a quick example of what it would look like. I put the word on the back of the headliner just for the pic and would probably put it on the front or maybe even down the middle as I have t-tops.

yea, i really like the idea and know exactly what you're talking about. I'm honestly not sure how it will work on the ABS headlienrs, but I know for sure that you wouldnt get the results you want if you use the stock headliner. The second that sheit peals off, its not going back on for any extended period of time.

Totally do-able. If you keep the stock headliner, make sure to glass it well. As long as the letters were BIG, it would be simple. The smaller they are the harder it will be to look good.

I guess that would make it harder if you were to glass it. You could just paint or vinyl them on then.

By glass I mean use fiberglass to make it stronger and patch it as needed. Factory ones are not strong enough for putting up and taking down more than once.

I would be getting a new headliner before trying this, definitely an abs one because they are much sturdier. As for lettering, you could use dense foam, or cardboard. I believe there is another headliner post that somebody just brought back from the dead where the guy used cardboard and it looks really good.
