a friend and i repaired that spot on a 91' rs once, it was much more gone then yours is, it was a real trick to get to, we ground all that we could out of there and ended up rebuilding the footrest and the side plate near the fender with sheetmetal cut and welded in place, now we need to pull the fender and cut and weld a patch in there as well to make it a complete fix.
be sure to make sure all the factory seam sealer is out, and take your time. i'm sure others will say different then me, but this car was made to be a driver and thats what its gona do.
i have pictures of it somewhere, if i find them i'll post them.

DiNunzio: what did you use to seal the weld? looks like some sort of goop stuff, silicon? then spraybombed?

we used silicone to go over all the welds, i'm prety sure they would have been watertight on their own, but when we has a tube of silicone, why chance it? then just spray bomb primer and silver spray paint. carpet covers it, so we really didn't mind much.
then underneith, we siliconed it again, primered and undercoated the entire area.

Same with mine but the outer, inner and floor were gone. I would not use silicone it might hold up fine but y chance it. And have to redo it. Get auto seam sealer.or the best would be a expoy seam sealer. I use sem stoff is great and fuser is good. And use a good weld thru primmer.

Was going to post about this problem over the weekend. Have the exact same problem, just not as bad.
So if I take the fender off I'll be able to get to the back side of that area?
What guage metal would be appropriate for that repair?

cool beans...
glad mine isn't that bad. Just a 2 inch x 6 inch or so hole right above the floor seam. Everything else is just surface rust.
Course, the problem is finding the leaks. The matting is wet on both sides of the interior. Have everything but the steering column and heater box tore out so I can do repairs and run speaker/amp wiring.
