Can I drive like this???

Hey i need to take my car into a body shop some time this week and get my doors fixed right, since TDS new hinge bolts and door tool didnt work! Anywho, I'm wanting to drive without my front fenders on and my hood off. Is this legall or am i playing with fire here?

I think it may be illegal to drive with your hood off but im not sure about the fenders. Plus laws are different everywhere. You always say that your going to the body shop. good luck!!

im pretty sure for it to be leagal the car needs to have a repair plate on it. i work at a body shop in connecticut and whenever we have to drive a car thats disassembled as you described we have to replace the registered plate with a repair one. the body shop your going to should have a repair plate and should be able to come pick up the car.

i would say no you cant drive with no hood or fenders. it must be a safety hazard or something.....but driving with no hood makes everyone look

laws

Ramair 21 is right, it differs from state to state. In Oklahoma it is illegal and we don't have repair plates. If you get pulled over for any damage offense you will get a ticket but if you repair it before 30days the ticket it waved.

Dumb Laws

umm if the hood and the fenders are off whats holding the headlights in? the front end is held on by the fenders,, so driving without them suported and bolted would be disasterous when it falls and you run it over.

i would think the hood you could get away with but you need side marker lights as per regular safety inspections. that would get ya stopped for sure.

the front end is for sure on there, and the head lights have there own brackets. i think it would be cheaper to pay a ticket then have my car towed across town.

Your question made me crack-up thinking about thinking about when I got my car painted... I drove it to the shop with no nose, fenders, hood, ground-effects, rear bumper or spoiler on it. I even had the front turn signal bulbs hanging and just attached the taillights with 1 bolt each! Hell, I'd even removed all of the weatherstripping! My car got more attention in that 8 mile drive than it did the previous 6 years!! LOL

anyway, i say drive it, and if the cops try and pull you over, your car will be lighter, so you could out run them.

That's strange. The only law I saw for OK considering a vehicle is.....

Molesting an automobile is illegal.

I guess that was put in place to protect the third generation.

Just drive the car. In Iowa you wouldn't be bothered much about it.
