Shifter setup?

Hey guys, I just got done installing a 350 V8/ th350 setup into my once previously 2.8L v6/ t5 car. Now, I'm kinda confused as to what to do now to get an auto shifter hooked up. When I took out the auto shifter from the 79 camaro, I noticed the floor was still intact minus 4 holes for mounting the shifter and the lil hole and boot the shifter cable came from.

In my 84 Camaro, since it was a T5, there is just a big hole in the floor where the shifter was.

I don't know what a 700R4 shifter setup is like, but I can't use the 79 shifter because the square hole cut out is too big. Am I going to need to weld sheet metal to fill the hole?? Then redrill holes to screw in a shifter?

Any help would be appreciated. If possible, pictures of a 700R4 shifter setup (console top removed or the shifter itself, would be best)

Thx

Do you think I'd be able to use the 79 th350 shifter then? Or will only the 700R4 thirdgen shifter setup work?

Thx for info so far
