i've always had good experiances with ppg products, your not planning on leaving it in primer for a long time are you? Primer is porous and can hold moisture if its in wet weather alot...
as for the sanding just start marking spots off and filling and sanding till you have reached perfection...then shoot your primer

i too am a fan of ppg. in my own opion its the best bang for the buck. i have also used and like standox and sikkens primers. very expensive. as stated above, primer is porous and can hold moisture. if you want to prime it and still be able to use it is all kinds of weather then shoot it with sealer. if you are stripping it down to bare metal than you should really use epoxy primer.

it sounds like your going in the wrong direction. check out 'project resurection; 7 threads, total repaint it covers all steps of prep and paint.
you cannot drive your car in primer and still paint it. the primer will be contamanated and paint will not adhere properly.
you need to get the same brand primer that the paint shop is using for paint. so if the use dupont get dupont ppg get pgg ect..
check out resurection do a search it will come right up and then if you have any more question give another post here.
be glad to help.

You CAN drive w/ primer on your caR, although its not recomended, and there is certain steps you can take to acomphish it
:NOTE:
There is many types of primer.
The one that our shop used was the Euro2K Primer from Dupont.
That one you can use and drive in weather.Although you still have to wet sand and put down sealer, before you shot your paint.
Sealer- Its the same thing as primer. you just mix it as a different ratio with the activator. it is alot "wetter".
That all should be fine. But just check w/ paint store and ask them which one would be better for your application. There is a automotive paint company in Tacoma called "wesco".
