I install the shifter now the car will not start in park. I read that I did not have to use the neutral safety switch and the new contact wire mounted on the side of the shifter.

The linkage is in the correct position, just incase someone think that may be the problem.

Hold the sifter toward the driver’s side. Like I mean it will wiggle left to right put some pressure on it to move it toward the drive reside while holding it try to start the car. If it starts the little black neutral switched installed on the driver side of the shifter is not making contact with the neutral and park position. If it still doesn’t start remove the little switch I mentioned bend the end slightly reinstall try to start again repeat if necessary. Also make sure you wired the switch correctly.

EDIT: I didn’t read where you said you did not use the safety switch you have to use it I thought or you have to just take the wires that would go to the switch and connect them to each other so it acts like the car is in park always.
