Anyone do hood locks on a ram air II??

Anyone do hood locks on a ram air II??
Cuz i got some, but when i flipped the hood up to intall them i realized the hood was way to thick anywhere down the line on the radiator support to install the locks...so i have to cut the lower layer of the hood so i cna fit the lock part into the hood...if there is a different way to do it or do i have to cut my painted underside belly of the beast
