fixing 1982 interior door handles

the upper bolts on both my door handles on the inside of the car have pretty much nothing left to thread into anymore so my top of the door handles just kinda flop around. Where can I find the plastic piece these bolts thread into, I know most of you are going to say what are you talking about it threads into metal, 82's were different in this area so help me find these plastic pieces

I had to do this for my Husbands T/A, When I first met him I thought he was such a gentleman, opening the door for me all the time, thenI realized his handles didn't work!

I actually bought the new parts at the dealer for like 25 bucks.

I don't think we are talking about the same part. On 1982's the doors arm rest upper bolt threads into a plastic piece, but any later models I've seen this bolt threads into a metal bracket, but I don't really feel like changing to the later style but guess if this little plastic piece can't be found I have no other choice.

Any other 82 owners have this problem to ??????

No, never had problem, still still have orginal parts in doors. I doubt that you're be able to find the plastic plarts. I would do a rework and upgrade them.

The car has over 260,000 miles, The transmission was rebuild by AAMCO back in 1992 and I currently have about about 120,00 miles on the last rebuild with a lifttime warrenty. The last 60,000 miles thats been put on the transmission has been with the 350TPI. The was my daily driver upto November of 2002.

I do floor it every now and them and manualy shift the transmission taking it past 5000 RPMs. The 200c can be a great transmission if it is built right. I had a lot of trouble with the transmission until AAMCO rebuilt it back in 92. I can say that I have saw my share of problems with the car. But I love the styling and I love the way the car handles. I will be driving this car until the day I die.

All I can say is WOOOOW my 200 was dead when I bought the car at 64,000 miles had it rebuilt and got another 30,000 miles then I gave up on it, however this car sits for many months at a time so internal trans seals could have been drying out and causing this as well. So if yours has survived behind a 350 feel lucky. I'm building a 90 L-98 for mine now so were going to see how long a t-5 can live under normal driving, but I may opt for the t-56 conversion, I think that would be a nice combination with my 373's.

Longer bolt and put a nut on other side of the plastic for a fix? Maybe weld a Nut in place where the plastic piece would go? Just throwing a couple of possible optional fixes.
