info on 82/83 "special" interior...
Years ago i saw a guys 82 or 83 (or it may of been an '85) black z28. the interior had camaro written ALL over it, like 5 times on the seats, and on the door panels CAMARO was printed all over (diagnal i beleive). i really think the seats had yellow/red/orange panels... for some reason i remember that.
I have never seen another interior like this before, and have yet to see it agian. does anyone have any info on this? or pictures? I would love to see it again. I saw this interior when i was like 15 years old so it has been close to 10 years...

It's called the LS Conteur seating option, used from 1982 thru 1986. It was an option on the Z28 & IROC-Z. The available colors changed slightly over the years. "CAMARO, CAMARO, CAMARO" was used these years except in 1986 when it was changed to the same material as the deluxe seating option.

Yeah, there was a guy on here that had the black/gray material with the CAMARO CAMARO CAMARO on it for sale. I doub't he still has any. His name was "John in RI".

More precisely, the CAMARO CAMARO CAMARO upholstery for the Lear/Siegler Conteur seats was for 83-85 only.
The 82's and the 86's were upholstered in the regular custom cloth interior fabric, with the 82's being the real oddball out of the bunch because the passenger seat was taller with the integral headrest like the ordinary Camaro seats that year, while the driver's seat had the shorter, separate headrest.
I probably owned one of the first 83's with that interior, outside of GM employees. I'd ordered my Z28 in September of '82 but didn't take delivery of the car until March 23, 1983 because of a material stop on that interior at Van Nuys.....

I cannot dispute the 1982 claim as I don't have any references to this. However, I do for 1986. Behold from the 1986 dealership brochure, a pic of this seat with the deluxe interior fabric. The question is, was this seat called the L/S Conteur, exactly as the prior years? It's referred to as the "optional Conteur bucket" here. Stay tuned...

Why yes it was! And it was an option across the Camaro line!! Interesting! And interim availability too. I wonder if how many, if any, were built. Unfortunately Chevy did not keep interior production records.....

I just found some info that might be interesting. In 1982, the conteur seating was available in both the standard cloth and custom cloth in the following colors:
Standard Cloth in:
Silver-Gray
Camel
Maroon
Custom Cloth in:
Camel
Characoal

My best friend had a white 84 L69 5 speed Z28 with that blue interior.....that was a damned good looking car.
There are also pictures of the burnt orange/charcoal Conteur Custom Cloth interior in the '83 sales brochure as well, which is what my red 83 5 speed Z28 had....
Even though it had less than half the power of either of my current LS1 cars, I really wish I had that car back!

My all-time favorite color combo. I also owned a white '84 Z with a custom cloth blue interior that I bought new. Unfortunately, it was an LG4/auto...

Right on! But it was too big to scan!!

Yes but they were top of the line in their day. That is unless, of course, you "massage" them a little. My '87 IROC-Z with a 305 (and supercharged at that time), ran a best of 12.004 @ 117.62 mph, basically coasting for the last two seconds (hit redline in D with 3.73s). It is now twin turboed with 3.23's. -- no times yet. Then there's my daily driver, an '03 Cobra..... awesome car.

Hello,
Are these the seats you are talking about? The drivers seat is all power with the added padding for underneath the knees. Too bad they were left in the car and not stored. They are in pretty good shape with the exception of the normal tears on the drivers seat, and a cig burn on one of the rear seats. I bet a good upolstery could clean them up really nice. I will attach some pics.

How much are you offering? The hole in one of the back seats is not a cig burn after further inspection, just a small hole. I also have the carpeted consel with the interior and any other part you might need. It was a conv and most of it is still in decent shape. It also has the original 145 speedo. Let me know?

I have to say I was wrong about the car. It is an 85 Z28, and the interior looks alot better than the pics I took. They need to be cleaned, the color is still pretty vibrant for being 20 years old, and the torn parts need to be replaced. Other than that they will just lay there until they rot unless you or someone you know wants them.

BTW, I could use the gauge cluster though, what are you looking to get for it?
