Yenko Third Gen themed Camaro
OK I want to throw this out there for some opinions. What do you guys think of a 1991 Camaro Super Yenko themed Camaro? Do it the same way as the following pictures. I am working on a photoshoped version of the idea right now.
The car will be a 1991 Camaro RS, Yellow in color. 427 C.I. Engine to match the old 427 YSC.
I am not looking to get flamed just let me know your opinion.
P.S. If you don't know what a yenko camaro is.... good ***! let the camaro gods spare thee!!!

Right off the bat, I'd say it's an awesome idea. There are a few things I'd steer clear of though. First off, you can't actually put SYC or Yenko anywhere on the car. Maybe along the rear stripe you could put 427Z28 instead of Yenko, or 427 R/S. You get the idea. On the front, maybe a 3RD for thirdgen.
...actually, that's about it. As long as you don't put Yenko on it, I'd say go for it.

Why is that? If for legal reasons I must ask why don't they sue the people who make 1st Gen clones? or because you don't feel its right to put the words Yenko on the car? Not trying to pick a fight just curious?

if that was the case, every person who owns a civic with one of those damn "Type-R" stickers would get sued too, hahahaha

You won't get sued. However, I feel you shouldn't call your car what it's not. It's not a Yenko. I would put something different on there more representative of the car, but it is completely up to you. You want Yenko, put Yenko.

Yea I was thinking the same thing about calling it something its not. I was looking for doing more of a memorial to the yenko then a copy. BUT I think this might upsight a lot of the classic muscle fans. If it caught me on the wrong day I would be pretty mad myself.
I must admit that the side shot of the yenko style strip does look good though. I was thinking what if I just did that style stripe and have it go up the Z28 styled wing to the other side... and not had the front of the stripe go up to over the front fender. Just doesnt look right that far up....something to think about atleast.

No, it's not for legal reasons, I'm just saying that your car is what it is. Stickers and paint don't change a thing.
It's your car so you can do what you want, but you asked for an opinion. The "clone" debate has been going on forever. My opinion is that cloning a car in "most" cases is wrong. Making a car that "never was" like a Thirdgen Yenko is wrong.
Again Just my opinion. The stripes/theme is still a killer idea though.

I agree. Your thirdgen isn't a Yenko, just like no thirdgen is an SS. It just doesn't look good when people label their car as something it isn't. But, I love the idea for the paint scheme. I'd just suggest not putting Yenko on it. I'd suggest putting RS instead of Yenko/SC.
The thing is though, the side striping doesn't follow the body lines of the thirdgen. If you look at how the strip matches with the firstgen, as in the picture below, it matches perfectly, but on a thirdgen it looks way out of place, as it looks on the PS that scott did. If you do decide to do this, some slight modifications to appearance will be needed for it to look decent, in my opinion.

I love the retro styling that you're talking about doing. I did my car with a retro theme. No flashy stripes or anything but painted it Hugger Orange and placed classic Camaro emblem on the rocker gfx where the rectangle RS emblem was. I really don't think though that Yenko should be placed on the car because it isn't a Yenko but all of the other stripes and such would look pretty cool!

i love it. if year one can sell a sticker kit, you should be able to do your car. the only classic scheme that is copyrighted i believe is baldwin. he still wont let a kit be made, cause baldwin chevy still does camaros. at least until 2002. (correct me if im wrong, someone knows) i think this would be awsome on a third gen, lines match.
i am thinking of a scheme like this one, with changes of course...http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/runnri...14.jpg&.src=ph

I'm not quite sure why this statement is always thrown around. Its obvious that its his car so he can do what he'd like, he's just looking for some input on the topic. I'm not being a jerk, it just gets old reading that 10 times on every opinion thread.
someone always post that!.......here's a little more "thirdgen" shaped...not that I don't like yours Scott!

The Sinister's car is too much of a bright yellow, so I toned it down a little bit, more like the originals. I tried to follow the lines of the third gen a little better, but its pretty hard to keep it looking like a Yenko when there's no thirdgen line to follow where the stripe gets fatter at the end. Also, I think keeping the RS spoiler is really important here, please don't use the high rise on a Yenko styled thirdgen. Anyway, I think this looks pretty good...

i think scott's ps job looks good and it follows the lines of the car pretty decently..but i'd bring the stripe closer to the nose of the car and finish it off with a point..the gmmg is cool but i dont believe in using badging that doesnt fit..unless you throw on a chambered exhaust or something...i like the yenko idea but without the name yenko on there, it's just a rendition of a stripe that probably doesnt belong on the car..
how bout a zl1 copo 3rd gen with plain badging and body color accented wheels

Well, you guys want opinions, honestly the whole yenko paint theme does not fit 3rd gens. I'm not trying to be a dick, I apologize if I offended you, but really... some things just don't look right.

Well, as said b4, it's a thirdgen and the body flows a lot differant! The other ps's are great too! I thought it would be cool to see the hole back of the car in black!

...if ya think about it, all stripe themes that carry over through the generations are a little different to fit the body of the whatever year car it's going on. It's just gotta be "similar". Here's my take on the hood stripes.
I never liked the way the two stripes connected towards the bottom so I did away with it.
...and my initials are CCM.

Abubaca
Change the triangular thing on the hood to be a little more.... polygonal... Make it flow with the front lines of the car a bit better.
The way it is now, it just doesn't work with the way the stripes are set up...
In my opinion anyways. Looks good otherwise.

Spearson, to be honest, I don't think the original 1stgen triangle thing flowed with the hood either. I just did what I would do If I used a Yenko theme.
......and I used illustrator. I think it's easier to do striping than in Photochop. I have TONS of crazy stripe ideas
Here's another take on the sidestripe. Again, I realize it's not totally accurate.

Think you could do that on a 1990-92 Z28 wing where you did the stripe accross the trunk?
