well a slight update

replaced all steering wear items and put on refinished rims and new tires got alignment.

had a peice of exhaust replaced when it scraped the bottom of a ram and mechanic ripped it off. so now my rear ghetto rigged exhaust is even lower and is touching the bumper melting it.

i ordered a new one but will be a few weeks

im going to take off the stickers around the locks on my doors today the paint is probably mint under them haha

Too bad I don't have any pics.. The previous owner had spray painted the whole car grey ontop of the red paint and in most spots you can see the red coming through.... Then the bumpers she spray painted it a totally different color primer.

you know, those last 2 cars would probably polish out pretty nicely if you spent a couple of hours with some compound and wax...

I just found my camera so I took some quick pics

I'm gonna finish priming it the same color as the bumpers once I get more paint.

me? no i had alot of body work done where metal was replaced, (see thishttp://kcampbell2.photosite.com/Bodywork/ ) and the new metal got colour matched primer. its paint in the primer. you can see it in this pic. trust me its awful unless its dark or raining. i get people all the time ask me 'hey are you going to paint this car?' their next question is 'youre not staying the same colour are you'

I was asking deadbird, but on second glance that looks like another car anywho.

I went thru the same thing as you though. Car sat in primer for a good 2 or 3 years. Lots of people asking when I was going to paint it.

You're correct, same car... got sick of looking at the white before I even finished it among not liking alot of things I did under the hood as well.
The white under the hood, not being all that great to start with, went to s--- during the motor episodes. The brake fluid reservoir that took a crap all over the paint didn't help matters any either.
Someday.... I guess.

Well, I can play this game… this is the formula that sorta the current project. It was bought as a parts car for my ’83 TA for cheap (the spare parts that I got with the car that I didn’t decide to keep make me more money in 2 weeks then I bought the car for):

It’s really not in as good a shape as it looks, it’s biggest faults are some Indiana rust underneath (look at the bottoms of the doors, the driver’s side frame rail and back of the rocker are in about the same shape as well as parts of the firewall…) as well as the top of the passenger side quarter panel where the hatch was hitting it taking the paint off. All this was made worse by the previous owner’s not being able to start it and leaving it sitting half under a pine tree and half under his deck in the back yard for 6 years.

The positives were an almost perfect interior (well, console was a little messed up and the headliner was sagging) and only 70K on the drivetrain.

Once Hurricane Isabel dropped an 8’ in diameter oak on the ’83 this became sorta a project/mule (didn’t help that some kid going >97mph hit the car in a PARKING LOT, damaging the front end and the subframe) until I find a better body to swap all the good stuff that I have for it.
