what kind of paint

I forgot to ask, what kind of primer should be used? I have read that some people use two different types, one on top of the other. Feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

From: Massachusetts

Car: candy blue 85 z28

Engine: 305 tpi LB9

Transmission: 700r4 crazy beefed up one

Axle/Gears: ones with teeth

epoxy or etching primner on bare metal.. then 2k high build primer on top of that.
