Lately I've noticed some rear third brake lihgt lenses that are blacked out except for a word or desgin or something lit up. I was thinking that would be easy to do it by your self with paint and stuff. But I wanna make sure I know What I'm doing before I try it. Has anyone done this or know how to go about it so It looks good and doesn't look like some trashy thing I expierimented with?

 

Get some masking tape and a razor blade. Take the brake light off. cover the entire assembly with one layer of tape and dont overlap them. Cut out your design/letters with the razorblade. remove all tape but your cutout letters. apply paint. Then remove cutouts.

Also, you could try to fab up something with a thin layer of fiberglass.

 

One of my buddies said something about using like stick on letters and stuff. would that work or should i stick to the masking tape?

 

i would think either one could work.
