Aw, come on. It sort of resembles an F22, doesnt it?
I think this needs to be locked before it gets out of hand. Don't be hurtful. She likes it, and it's her car, and that is all that matters. We all do things to our car that may be frowned upon by someone out there.
Hell, I have a tank in the back with a washer pump that sprays bleach on the rear tires at the flip of a switch, even though I never burn out in my stock 305. So make fun of that. I know I won't mind. But maybe Shannon might. She put a lot more effort into her car than I have... At least appreciate her ingenuity, effort and craftsmanship..

I like how creative she is with the car. I do have to admit, I'm not a big fan of the red tint, and I really don't like the wheels one bit, but the rest of that car is fine by me. Some dark tint and some nice 5-spoke wheels, and that car would be real nice lookin'...IMO of course.
I really like the spoiler on the front nose of the car underneath. I think that's kind of cool.

Redraif,
Congratulations girl!!! All your hard work is finally getting some attention. I really am glad for you
(As for you guys who don't have something nice to say, this IS a good time to keep negative opinions to yourselves. Jesus said "Love your neighbour as you love yourself." Would you want someone else on the board to call your car ugly if you had gotten good national exposure? I didn't think so.)

PMs being written, thread getting trimmed... some of you people need to learn when not to post. If you cannot learn when not to post, I'll be happy to revoke your ability to do so in the first place.
Congrats, RedRaif. I hope someone recorded it, because I don't watch Rides.
That is all.

Congrats to Shannon
Shannon, as one who tries to make my GTA something different from the other birds, I REALLY appreciate the amount of work and creative thought you have invested in redraif and while I did not see the show, I know that if redraif did not stand out from the crowd it would not have made the show. CONGRADULATIONS!!! Dave

It's one thing to expect mods to eliminate the bashing, but some of you guys seem to think that it's the job of the mods to eliminate every post that isn't an ***-kissing hippie circle jerk. Some people need to sack up a little bit and just start worrying about their own opinions instead of everybody elses.

Jim85IROC, i understand what you're saying. But at the same time, can't she have a couple posts about her car that aren't overwhelmed by people bashing it? At some point, i think those who don't like her car can realize that their opinion has been heard many many MANY times over on this board and let her have her day.

The rims will be gone within a month or so (they've been backordered, so we're still waiting), as will the Scorchers. It is lowered (not sure which pic you were looking at), with Eibach Pro kit springs cut 1/2 coil in the front, though it likely will be lowered more than that with the new coilovers that are going on soon.
The tint (though it is being redone) is going to stay red; someone photoshopped reg tint on it once, and it didn't look right. It was originally done for medical reasons anyway; she gets migraines, and discovered that her red tinted sunglasses made her far less light sensitive, so she got an exemption through her doctor and the state. Its one of the few mods on the car that I would say isn't going to change.
Thanks for the congrats guys, Shannon really appreciates it. Hopefully she'll get to comment soon (busy at work). Neither of us saw the posts that were deleted, but honestly we didn't have to...the same people post the same crap every time, trying their best to get a thread locked. And you guys wonder why there aren't many females in this hobby

The recognition she has gotten over the last 4 years or so for the car is part of it; I can't count how many times people have told us they bought their thirdgen (or decided to start modifying it) because of her. Countless emails on how to do lots of the mods she created, or at least was one of the first to do (4th gen mirrors, shaving, headlight conversion, etc) led to her Cardomain site, which is probably the most thorough thirdgen buildup site on the internet. She has tried to help anyone and everyone who has ever asked, even some who started out as her biggest critics.
She has also worked with parts manufacturers (particularly Hawks) to get things produced, such as the custom seat covers he now offers (hers were the first), and the notchabck conversion he is now selling. She bought one off of E-bay, and rather than just painting it and using it like most would have, she worked with Bruce to have a mold made from it, making it possible for many more people to have the same mod. More recently, we worked with TrueLeo (they make custom intake manifolds for V6 Fieros, among other things) to help them design an intake for 3rd gen V6s. We did the measurements on the car, sent the original pieces to them, and are now installing the first prototype...before we did this, there was no intake being produced for these engines. If you wanted one, you had to build it yourself. We're also providing dyno information, a list of other needed parts, and a full installation guide. We plan to do more projects like these in the future.
I think her greatest contribution, though, is that she has pushed the envelope as far as what is acceptable to do to these cars, and inpired more people to be creative, rather than doing what is "safe" so they won't get bashed on the internet. For every custom like Redraif, there are thousands of other cars with a more traditional look, but more and more customs are being built on thirdgen platforms, and I think she has had something to do with at least some of it. The guys who will likely win the Heavy Custom class at The TA Nats this year told us last year that they were inspired by her car to do theirs (it was in the newest issue of HPP), and I think anything that provides a little variety in the hobby can only do it good.
OK, what i have to say is my opinion, but i am sure there are numerous members here who would agree with me.... Shannon's car is not a favorite on this site, we all know that. Everyone who thinks it is the stupidest car in the world always makes a point to keep drilling that into our heads whenever a post about her car comes up... fine we heard you then, we hear you now, and will probably have the unfortunate pleasure of hearing it again in the future! If this post asked for opinions, then fine post the same **** you post every other time you talk about her car..BUT.. this thread did not ask for opinions..it was because a member here wanted to give her recognition for being on tv with a car that she clearly loves and puts a ton of time and effort into. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion that is different from other members...infact the differences in opinion keep things interesting, but there is no reason why every single thread that is about her car (and even posts that are not about her car) get her name and her car flamed in them.. so give it a rest.. if you like her car or not ....there is not a single car person here that can deny the effort and money that was put into her car...ohh so what you dont like it...fine dont build your car to look like hers, but omfg find something else to obsess about. I am not defending her or her car because I am a girl and think we should stick together...i am saying it because i am a car lover and i know how much time, energy, effort, money, and love went into every inch of work she has done and i respect that.

I didn't say she started it, only answered a question about how she has contributed to the hobby. There are plenty of others here (Zephyr, Scauffiel, Revlimit, Devian B, etc, etc) who have contributed to it as well. Its just that when both of us became members here, there weren't nearly as many people doing custom thirdgens (meaning, custom as in non-bolt on, and not out of a box).

I like the car, people just need to lighten up. It's not there's they don't have to drive it but as said before internet anonomity (if thats a word) let's everyone express their opinion even though no one really wants it. I was looking forward to seeing the car in person. I've actually just got finished with the 4th gen mirror swap onto my 88 Iroc. And it looks alot better than stock IMO. I had thought about it but Shannon took the time, money, and ingenuity to do it first. And I respect her for that. How many other people with firebirds have done the headlight swap like hers? Quite a few and more and more people are doing it. So I just say thanks for making a contribution unlike most of the people in the community (who are also mostly the people that give their opinions that aren't wanted) and keep it up can't wait to see the 82.

Thanks you guys... me this time!
Was at work and could not get on to post when I was planning. Plus I had to go put out a fire on Camaroz28.com... they were having a flame war... big surprise! Anyway. It was locked as per every thread I post in there is. You know it would be nice if people would learn to just leave some stuff alone. There really is not point in all the bashing! Not your deal fine! Move on!
I had known there was a chance the car would be on, but was expecting the episode months ago. But I figured to let the cat out of the bag could backfire if the episode did not air... so Surprise!
Honestly this was the one week I had not checked ahead on the TLC site... so I even missed the episode! They said it would reair on Sept 4th... 2pm I think. Sunday if I remember right! So I guess I will have to get my VCRs and my uncles DVD recorder on the ready for it!

I've looked at Shannon's CarDomain several times before, and just did so again when I read this thread. Although the work may not be what everybody likes, who can deny that it's not well done? Literally every part of that car has a custom touch and that alone should be enough to command some respect.
She's got my respect, that's for damn sure.
Congratulations, Shannon!

I dont know why some of you always mis-understand what I'm saying. Jim, I've said this a million times I dont know why you dont get it. I dont have a problem with people having a negative opinion. But when they act like 10 year old kids and just hate on someone, totally bashing them into the mud, then I have a problem. Its a shame that you, as a mod, dont feel the same way. I'm glad TechSmurf stands up for members of this board that get this treatment. Nobody deserves it. Every time I rant about this, alot of you take it the wrong way, thinking I'm trying to say you shouldnt be allowed to have your own opinion. Thats not what I'm saying. You can have any opinion you want, just voice it like an adult and treat people with respect. Why is that so hard to understand? Guess what, I dont really like the way her car looks either but you dont see me going around talking crap about her. My opinion about her car obviously will not help her in any way or accomplish anything, so guess what, I keep it to myself!! OMG!!
Arrowcamaro, I'd defend ANYONE on these forums that get this kind of treatment, dosnt matter who it is. I'm not trying to get into anyones pants. I have my own G/F, been with her for years, very happy man. And remember, I'm not Haole, you're Haole. I'm part Hawaiian born and raised! You dont even know what you're saying!!

Ok you're right. I agree. I didnt help the situation, but I just didnt think it was right that some people bashed her so hard. Maybe we can delete all the BS (mine included) and keep it going?

ROFL! This thread is hilarious.
I'll have to find this episode on bittorrent or something. I think that's awesome Redraif has put so much time into her car, and I really do this it opens peoples eyes to modding a 3rd gen... I see far too few parts/magazine/publicity for 3rd gens, compared to first, or 4th, or other cars...
Kinda nice to get some recognition eh Shannon?
It's also cool to get some parts made for V-6s, that's a dismal market out there, that could really use a boost.
I'm looking forward to seeing the episode, rock on Redraif.

I think you deserved the recognition you get from the awards to the publicity...Granted, there's stuff I wouldn't do but I'm still impressed by what you did...that's a lot of work and it does look good all together, it meshes.

Keep up the good work!
