A fix for that window rattle
You know how that window rattles when you shut the door, big problem with our cars. Figured out a fix for it, darn near free. There is a stop on the regulator that bottoms out on the bottom of the door. Rubber gets hard and falls apart, window goes down too far and gets loose all over. See in the picture where it's located with the window about half way up. Take a Dremel and cut off the rivet, ream out the hole a bit for the stud on the pad. See next post.

The pad I used is just a brake pad off a bicycle, get at WalMart for a buck or so. I use those brake cables for everything and the kit is really cheap so I had a bunch of those pads. Bolt the pad so the rubber is angled right and the new rubber stop will limit the window travel so the top of the glass is right at the weatherstripping and the bottom is held tight on the door frame. Pretty simple once you get the door panel off.

Not sure what you're actually referring to, but if your felts are good and the window is down and seated on the rubber stops, it doesn't rattle or shake when you shut the door. Pretty common problem with our cars.

Whoa, this thread is still alive. Can't really see the pad in place without cutting a hole through the outer door skin. See second post at red arrow for the location with new pad in place. When you get in there it's pretty obvious what the deal is. Mine is still working fine. Can't believe I still even have this car. Still looking good and running strong though.

This old post is still around? The rubber part of the pad goes down with the stud sticking up though the window mechanism. Rotate the pad so the rubber makes good contact with the bottom of the door frame. Really have to get the door panel off and see how it's in there to understand the deal.

Bicycle brake pads are a great solution.
I used Energy Suspension universal bump stops, similar to this:
And IIRC, I had to do some trimming to make them fit correctly.

Genius! I know it's an old post but I think you just solved my problem. The post is from 2005. Its 2019 now. Do you still have the car? How did your repair hold up over time? I've got my door panel off until I can fix it. Temporarily I stuck a self adhesive rubber foot to floor of the inner door, the kind that goes under small furniture. In the mean time I'm gonna go shopping and get me a bicycle brake pad! My temp fix will probably work itself loose with vibration in a couple days.

Yep, still have the car. Just rolled over 200K miles and the window rattle is still fixed. Car is starting to draw too much attention to be a daily driver/commuter car though. Not a bad thing. Runs good and still gets 23 mpg - when I drive it right.

Thanks you so much for the info on the fix. Works awesome. No need to turn up radio anymore. Lol. It’s been driving me crazy for years.
