How do you remove.....
How do you remove the blinker arm from the column? My washer fluid tab cracked around the shaft and I just ordered the new arm. By looking at the picture it seems simple enough to change, but when I look at the car, I'm afraid to break it.
Also... when I make left turns, my blinker doesnt turn itself off anymore. and remedies for this?
Thanks,
-Jim

last i heard its a bitch to remove the lever. You have to take apart the steering wheel. The lever is held on by some screws behind the steering wheel. Correct me if im wrong someone . about not clicking back on doing a left turn. For some reason my car is doing the same so help us both out fellas

Axle/Gears: bunch of 10 bolts how scary is that
I sent it in to a shop to have the same problem fixed because I was too busy to do the grunt work at the time and it came back out with the right blinker not working instead of the left and the steering column off to the right completely. Seems like it drove the mechanic crazy and he just said f-it

Your best bet is grab a haynes manual for detailed instructions, but you do have to remove the steering wheel to replace the lever. As far as the blinker goes, there is also a turnsignal cam in the same place as you have to get to the lever(behind the steering wheel) Theres little tabs on the cam that click the turn signal arm back off when you return the wheel from a turn. You can pick the part up at any parts store in the HELP! section stuff if its broken. Hope that helps

I was under the impression that the lever itself simply pulled/twisted out of the column (after unhooking the wiring which is accessible under the kick panel). The cam is a different story.

I changed mine the other day. It just pulls out.
I don't have cruise control so I just snipped the wires off.

There's no screws involved in the blinker/cruise lever.. There's a little cover in the back by the tilt lever, pop that off if you have cruise and unplug the 4 wire connector, then just grab the stalk and pull, it comes right out with barely any effort.. No need to remove the steering wheel.

word of caution when you pull the old out, and if you have cruise attach a piece of wire to the end like a fish tape to get the one back in. The wire goes through a small channel down the column,

that is the hardest part....but it does just pull out but you have to slightly twist counter clock wise.....

the blinker not turning off, that is usually the cam springs. remove the steering wheel, and you will see the white plastic peice in there. there are springs in there that turn the blinker off. if they are broken or missing then the blinker will just stay on.
yellow arrows are the springs
red arrow, if you break the inner part of your turn lever, you need to remove this bolt to get it out, but all you have to do is pull the old one out to replace the handle.
