My GTA took a blow
Well it seems Im not immune to body damage afterall. I know alot of our cars have been damaged lately, seems to be an ongoing trend around here, and now mine is one. I came out into an intersection when the guy to my left ran the redlightand hit my wheel straight on. It messed the fender, inner fender, door, and wheel up plus it bent my strut andbusted the centercap all up.I didnt notice that the alignment was so far off so all I did was exchange info and we both went on our way, I was already late for GM Training for work and I didnt want to mess around. I then left the scene and on my way to class I found out just hoow bad the damage was, the car wonders all over the road and the wheel is no longer anywhere near center. I have been in touch with my body guy and both his and my insurance the past couple days trying to get it all worked out and it looks like after my body guy gets a fax confirmation from he other guys insurance the repairs will finally begin. While the car is there they are gonna cut m a deal on a couple minor dings and stuff tahts in the car since they are already mixing paint up for it so it seems like things are gonna turn out ok in the end.

and one just to show how bad it bent the strut, the steering wheel is straight.

Nope, in all three pics the wheels are supposed to be straight, the right one is and so is the steering wheel.

yeah it needs a fender and the door took a hit too down by the GFX, kinda hard to see in those pics though.

The exact same kind of hit happened to me recently,it bent my spindle assy which made my tire point outwards just like yours. My insurance scrapped the car.Fortunately I didn't give up so easily and its back in action again. Also the spindle assys are like $500 bucks new.I would almost guarantee yours is going to be bent, along with the strut assy.Good luck though, stay with it..

I already had the insurance people come and look at the car and the body shop also looked at it and told me it was just the strut luckily. They are just awaiting confirmation from the insurance to start the work on the car so hopefully Ill have it back shortly.

With a hit like that I would seriously consider getting a second opinion. It's hard to believe that the only damage is to the strut. For the wheel to be that far out there would have to be damage to the tie rod or suspension arm. With the strut taking that much of a hit, the tower could very well be tweaked and the spot where the a arm meets the front framerail took a hit too so the frame could well be tweaked. Hopefully it's not that bad, but the impact was absorbed by all those points.

yeah I see your point but both the body shop and the insurance adjusters both looked at it and said the same thing so I doubt both are wrong, plus the body shop is where we outsource all our GM warrenty repairs so I know them pretty well.
Also the spindle assys are like $500 bucks new

the other thing you want to look for is if it pushed in the mount of the a-arm, on the crossmember... check all the joints and rods, for safty... even if its bent a little make sure its replaced. i slid into a curb on ice i bent those parts on a third gen once... whooops.. nothing a couple hundred bucks cant remidy
