Hawk's seat covers , i'm not happy cuz... (also who can help me installing?)
Hi guys , after reading and reading i have ordered tan seat covers in hampton leather for my trans am gta....
Note that i'm in italy and all this joke was so expansive....
Well looking to the material it's very good , very soft and it can look like leather..
So why i'm not happy?
Small directions... just a small paper, no paints , no directions on how to dismantle seat and headrest.....
Also you have to do a lot of work on the seat to let they fit...
you have to sewn the side bolster (but this is specified when you order) and you have to cut and make open for the bolster inflator.... this is not specified...
Also please i need help on how to dismantle the head rest ( i have removed it from car already) and install the new cover....
In last maybe my mood it's a bit down cause the work it's a very PITA... hope to finish fast with help of my AMERICAN third gen friendz!
Please if anyone has suggestion of how to put the covers on it will very appreciated....
I don't know exactly from where to start for the back and for the seat....
A procedure will be very appreciated!
(sorry for some mispelling)
First pic is the opening for the bolster inflator
ORIGINAL vs HAWK

wish i could help you my brother. what part of italy are you in? my family is from vodo di cadori, belluno, veneto. sorry that i am no assistance in your re-upholstering. hope you figure it out....
I did just the same exact thing to my GTA tan seats, the quality was very nice. I had to take my front seats to a upholstry shop to do the front seats, I left the bolsters off because mine looked like crap, other than that they were very easy to install, just time consuming.

What sort of help do you need on the headrest? What year?Does it look like the one in the pic.If so all you have to do is pull them apart. They are held together by 3 small plastic rivets, just pull them apart carefully. The front seat covers are held on by "hog rings".You should ahve new ones in a small plastic bag. They have to be removed from the seat frames you will also have to seperate the seat back frame form the seat bottom frame. The seat back foam is also held on with hog rings too. There are hog rings on the covers holding them to the front of the seat foam(see 2nd pic). After you remove the hog rings from the back of the seat back cover.Pull the lumbar sides away from the foam. You will see more hog rings(3 rows)remove them also. The covers should come off by now.The seat bottom also has many hog rings in place. You will have to pull the covers away from the foam to see the hog rings.

Here are pic of the covers. The circled areas are where the hog rings are holding the covers to the foam. You will have to cut the holes for the "bolster inflator" & cut off the "air port",but first put the covers back on the foam. The same way to removed the old one. Then put the foam back on the seat frame. Then cut the hole for the bolster inflator.Do this also for the seat back cover, cut the hole for the air port after you put the cover back on.I dont have any pics for the rear seat.If i remember though the rear seat back rest has a zipper or a plastic retainer at the bottom of the back rest holding the cover to the frame.Remove the back rest unzip the cover then just pull up.It should slide right off.Install the new one.The rear seat cushions also have hog rings ,remove those. Now i remember this being a little difficult,But i think the cover is GLUED to the foam. You have to CAREFULLY cut the glue without cutting the foam.I have never replaced the rear seat cushions.Only the rear seat covers & front seats.Im sure though that there are many on here who have done this completely.Im just the first to chime in.My italian is very poor.So i hope this is of help to you.If not mi dispiace

OH yeas my friend, at now i've dismantled the ack from the seat , i have removed all the old covers , and i have removed mie headrest from the back.
Mine headrest are looking exactly like your , i have gta style telescopic headrest(my car it's a 1989 gta). I don't know were to pull to remove the small (headrest) cushion from the headrest assembly... i don't want to crack some clip or other . in italy i cannot find replacement part.

Just pull? i have to replace those rivets?
please try to explain as easy you can.
Ok now i have all the covers apart ,i removed all the foam.
Now i make someone sew the plastic bolster on....
After how you suggest?
how to start? first put on the back ? then the hogrings?
Can you try to make a step by step?
Thank you very much....
i'm concerned about where to start to put the hogrings?middle then side? or what?
Thank you!
on mine I just pulled and the cushion came apart, the clips on mine are made to be pulled apart carefully and pushed back in. The reason I took them to the upholstry shop is because I didn't want to use the stock plastic side bolsters, I wanted the smooth look so they had to sew on some extra fabric so the hog rings have something other than the vinyal to hold it tight. I have had them on since april, I out about 2000 miles on the car since putting them together and so far they are holding up great.
