ok so ever since ive swapped the t56 in ive been getting alot of heat from it in my console and in turn its heating up my cd deck. and im getting worried about it. what can i do to keep the heat from coming in or lessen the impact on the stereo. ive put the shifter boot back.

Car: VIN=85 T/A, CAR=82/3 T/A gfx, go figure. She's a T/A anyway!
Engine: 5.0, Holley 600 cfm 4-barrel
Transmission: THM350 ??
CD decks can get pretty warm in their own right, are you sure it isn't the deck more than the transmission?

Best of luck,
Mark.

I'd say figure out exactly where its coming from. get a trans cooler if you dont already have one, itll also help prolong the life on the trans. And make sure theres plenty of trans fluid and all that good stuff. I dont think it should get that hot where the shifter is actually hot. Might wanna ask some of the guys over on the trans board too.

Mine get's really hot also.. I even put in the heavy rubber boot over the shifter and it still get's hot. I've never had any problems with the HU and its been a few years so I wouldnt worry about that, but I do hate having the heat on in the summer

maybe put down some dynamat sound insulation around the tranny area under your console. i would think it insulates heat/cold also...

My stock shifter on my T5 gets hot too midway down. But the top end at the **** never gets too bad. I think the hollow stock shifter dissipates heat better than a solid shifter.

And doesn't the T56 have a bigger case? If so I think less air gap between transmission and sheetmetal would cause more heat to radiate into the floor.
