weird wiper problem
The right wiper arm on my 85 camaro hits the hood. What is up with that? The hood seems to line up with the fenders..

the wiper arm is bent where it goes onto the geared plug. someone has just pulled the wiper arm off in the past without being carefull with it and they bent it . I know this cause i have done it to two brand new arms and the only way to fix it is to get a new one. If you dont replace it eventually it will stripout that part of the wiper assembly. the arm is just cast aluminum so it VERY easy to bend it infact i have never been able to get one off with out bending it.

it... it hits , well rubs, right where it comes off of the splined shaft. Almost like my hood is messed up, or somebody didnt push the wiper arm on all the way. ah well, ill check your suggestion tomorrow... with all the mickey mouse **** i've found from the previous owner, i wouldnt be surprised if he did bend the arm. Thanks.

well its just a cast peice of aluminum that is made to fit around that splined shaft there and when you pull it off you have to hold the arm in the up position hold the lock thing opem and try to pry strait up but that is very hard to do and so most people (such as myself) end up bending the wraparound part which kinda streches it out and elongates that spot and alows the wiper spring to push the base part that goes onto the splined shaft up and into the hood. but i would get that fixed soon cause if ya dont it will strip out that splined part there and not just on the arm but on the drive assembly to. not to mention that it will really F up your paint.
