85 vs later years?

Are there any differences in the body and styling between and 85 and later years of third gens? The car I'm looking at is a base model and hatch louvers, I don't think it has any ground effects, originally had a 2.8 but has a carbed 305 now. It just looks really strange compared to most of the other camaros I've seen, maybe the louvers and lack of ground fx throw the lines of the car off or is there actually a difference? And if it doesn't have ground fx will I need to drill new holes to put them on or are there holes already in the body?

well if its a base model its most likely a sportcoupe and has a different front bumper....in order to fit gfx on the front you will need a new bumper (85-90 Z28)

yep.. for gfx you will need a new bumper.. although there are several gfx kits out there for the SC and Berllinetta cars now.. I have run across several ones.. anything from just the standarad looing gfx that will bolt right to the stock sc and berly to the ones where you need a new front bumper and look pretty odd.. Only thing really different on any of the cars is the front nose and the gfx... the rear spoiler's could come on any car as an option.

OK, so to put an 85-90 Z28 nose on the car do I have to change the actual bumper too or can I just bolt on the z28 bumper cover?

just the bumper cover.. and you have to change the rear bumper cover.. the rear cover and the rear GFX are all one piece..

Ok, so if the rear bumper cover and gfx are all one piece is the it the same for the front bumper cover and its gfx? I can't just put 91-92 gfx on an 85-90 bumper cover? About how much does a good set of 91-92 gfx cost?

BTW, why are there different fenders for 82-90 and 91-92? What exactly is the difference, they look the same.

LOL so to sum up: You need to purchase or pick up a newer bumper cover which will have the mounting holes necessary for a nose ground effect. Then, unless you find a front bumper cover with one already attached (check a boneyard), you need to get a front ground effect. Lastly, a rear bumper cover which has a ground effect piece molded on. Unless you go brand new, you can find these pieces relatively cheap.

No difference in fenders(besides the holes for ground effects) or front bumper(with ground effect)85-92

Yeah thanks, I just bought the car a few hours ago, looks like a good start to me! only problems I can see so far is I need 2 fenders and the fuel gauge doesn't work(rather than a factory tach it has a fuel gauge) any ideas on that? BTW, where would I go to post pics of it on the forums?

You could post pics right here if you'd like. If the pics are on your computer, use the Attach File option, just make sure the pic is the proper file type and size. If the pictures are already hosted on the net, use the IMG tag located under the Subject line.

Ah the starwars gauge cluster. Go to a junkyard and look for a gauge cluster with dial gauges on it, there will be a tach with an 60 psi oil gauge for a V8 tach and a 80 psi gauge for a V6 tach.
Believe me, you will NEVER regret getting rid of the idiot light starwars gauge cluster. Many have blown head gaskets because the water light never came on. Myself included, kablamo went the engine.
You will also need to install a analog oil pressure sending unit, and a water tempature sensor in order to go from a star wars gauge cluster to a normal dial cluster.
If you don't then the new cluster will not work due to the oil and water temp sensor's being switches.

See where it says Attach file just below the text box when you are making a thread or reply? Click on browse and select the picture that you want to upload to your post. You can only do 1 picture per post and if I recall correctly only 3 or 4 pic's per thread.

It already has oil pressure and water temp gauges mounted in a pod under the dash as well as an autometer tach. I was thinkin bout robbing the cluster from my friends 88 junker but I kinda dig the look of the aftermarket tach. But what could cause the fuel gauge to not work? It reads straight to the right waaay past full and doesn't change. Loose ground? What is the most likely cause?

I think I've already figured out how to attatch pics, what I meant was is there a particular forum that I should post them in or will I get in trouble w/the mods if I get a little off topic.
