I could tell you to do a search like 1/2 of TGO would but heres a link for you.

Its easier then you think to convert. Esp if you dont need a top. You could have it done in a weekend.

I had mine measured, cut and mocked up ready for welding in 2 weekends.

Yeah, me too......

Please tell me you supported the underside of the body before you cut the roof off??????? Please, Please, Please.....
Otherwise you just make the nicest flowerpot in town. Those bodies bend SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much when you cut the roof off that your car is probably no longer even close to being level. CrazyN8 and I cut up a junker T-top Camaro yesterday for scrap metal and when we cut the roof, the car sagged in the middle almost an inch!!!!!!

Good start. now see the inner parts where the speakers use to me. almost all that has to come out.

The sail panels deff need cut more. they should be even with the door. cuta little at a time. grind, cut grind,etc..

Good start!!

I should get back to workin on mine here soon and will deff update everyone.

yea i have been wondering how low to cut. i have not been able to find any pics of a vert. with out the plastic top trim peice. i didnot support the frame at all. did not bow at all. the doors even open and close better. i figured it would bow myself...but it did not. again this is going to be a permament topless car. so there will be alot of fabbing going on which i am not good at(yet!!!). if anyone has some ideas feel free to throw them out. i even thought about cutting the windsheild down like a roadster style.

If the doors open and close better then the middle is sagging.

I think its good you left the extra sheet metal on the pillars, you can probably bend it over so there isn't a sharp crease at the edge, if done right this should look sharp.

If I were me I'd start visualizing and planning the trunk.

killjoy...the car was useless when the guy gave it to me.
about the trunk...that is where i can not decide weather to make one or get one out of the junkyard. this is going to be something custom/how ever it turns out kinda thing. i would like to have a trunk of some sorts.
firebirdjosh you bing up a good idea about folding the metal over. i just wish i had some good tools to work metal.

As for the trunk, if you feel adventurous (and only do this AFTER you reinforce and possibly straighten the frame out) you could fabricate a big fiberglass panel with rear mounted hinges that would make the car a 2-seater, basically something like the AutoForm conversion of the mid 1980s. You could then have a simple ragtop sewn for the car, and it wouldn't be as involved as making a full-blown folding ragtop.
