Headlight switch question

Last night my headlight switch appears to have broken a bracket of some sort when turning my lights off. My car is an 89 RS and the switch is pull out **** located on the pod to the left of the steering wheel. The switch will not push all the way in so the parking lights remain on. Has anyone here dealt with this issue? The Haynes manual was not much help on this one (Maybe I'll find the service repair manual in my X-mas stocking) I'm going to the "Auto Recycling Center" (call it a junkyard and they will kick you out) tomorrow morning. Any advice anyone has for me on this repair would be much appreciated.

The exact same thing happened to me in my 82 camaro.I would push in the headlight lever and the whole switch would move inside the dash.I could only get the headlights to turn off but the parking lights were still on.There is a screw that holds the switch mounted in place and it had fell out leaving the switch unsecured inside.

Rossi's on 202 in King of Prussia. They have 4-5 3rd Gens. Most of them are picked pretty bare but they did get a new Z-28 in in the first half of the year.

So the switch does not need to be replaced? Only the screw that holds the swith in the bracket?

Are they a u pull it type of yard?I usually go to shortys in conshohocken. They usually have a few 3rd gens too.To check the headlight switch first remove the bezel and then move the lever in and out just to make sure it works before getting a replacement. My mechanic fixed mine while it was in the shop and he told me it was secured by a screw and i havent had a problem with it ever since
