Hood mounting question
I've been running a fiberglass hood for about two or three months now. I've got nothing major to report, everything installed/lined up fine and I bought the fiberglass hood struts from GM at the cost of a kidney. The hood is very solid and stays where it is supposed to, but the back end (closest to the windshield) moves up and down some. It only moves about a 1/4 inch and only does it on the driver’s side. The passenger’s side stays put. It also makes a very annoying squeaking sound. I already tried raising the bump stop on the hinge to take out some play and it didn’t seem to help. I can’t crank it up any higher or the hood will come out of alignment.
When I installed the hood I removed the rubber v shaped things on the top of the fenders because the hood wouldn’t close with them installed. Should I put them back and figure out how to get them to work? How can I hold the rear of the hood down? The squeaking is bothering me like no other.
Also, probably not related but I will throw it out there just in case: the hood latch sticks some but it did that before with the steel hood.
I wouldn't mind running pins if it wasn't for the fact that I already purchased the fiberglass hood struts.
