Hood scoop?

Where can I get one of these hood scoops? And are they functional?

It's not a hood scoop, it's a shaker hood circa 2nd gen t/a's

And it's custom made I believe, I don't know of anywhere that sells a hood/blister like that.

Thats not a Bandit II scoop. Those were just tacked onto the hood when the conversions were done by Chattanooga Customs.

The one in the pic looks like a real '77-81 Trans Am shaker scoop made to work on a 3rd-gen. You can see the hole cut in the hood. I would imagine they made it functional too.

Does it just sit on top of the Carb setup? Paddock parts sells the shaker hoods.

these hoods that look like that are all custom made from NOS shaker hood parts..i did one about a year and half ago for a friend..its was a major PITA..but it was worth it once done..you should be able to get anything you need from any part supplier for the 2nd gen birds..and if done right would and cen be very functional

How come i recall reading a while back on here that it was hard to make look good on our cars because of the fact that our engines are offset to one side. Am I wrong? I would love for my car to have a shaker hood.

Yea the motors in our cars are offset to the pass side alittle. I remember someone saying that they had solid mount in and it was sentered. I dont know if the same can be made for polly inserts tho.

That is proly why most shaker hoods on third gens have the center bolted to the hood.

I can't seem to find the thread that discusses the "offset" of the engines in 3rd gen cars. That is actually the result of worn out motor mounts. That is why a solid motor mount would be centered. If you were to install polly mounts the engine would be centered again.
