91 pop up headlight question
I own an 86 Firebird here in BC and now am looking at a 91 formula.
Went to take a look at it and when I started it the popup lights came on. Lights were working. So I ask this guy why that's so and he tells me it's a safety feature that the headlights are driving lights.
I am pretty skeptical since as far as I know no hidden ligght system on the a bird did that.
So am I wrong?-is this some stupid running light system I never knew of? Or, has someone wired the dam lights into the ignition Is it a possible headlight module failure?
I checked the motors on the lights when the car was off by turning them on and the light popped up no problem and were working the went down no problem as well when I turned them off?

It's ok I think I found the problem the guy is full of it like I thought. After reading some threads I searched, I realized that the cd unit he put in there probaly got spliced to the lights and is now causing a short. Doesn't look like a major problem to fix.
I'll probably pressure him to lower the price on the car more if I buy it.

Thanks for the reply people. The light sensor in the front dash is that the same one that the 2nd gen bonnevilles(92-99) have to turn on lights automatically?
The turn signals are the daytime running lights on the cars no?

Well I picked her up and I pressured him on the headlights-I got hm to drop the price by $1300.00 Did a little hair pulling thing talked about shorts in the system and relays being fried and such. Anyway he took my offer. Picked the car up for 3500.
Funny enough, When test driving the lights dropped down. Which caused me to comment on the short thing to him again. I could not see any sensor when looking but mind you it was raining.
Anyway if the lights are doing this intermitently and pop up on start up what am I facing as a problem?
Rest of the car is pretty solid though.
