Has anyone restored a firebird dash and shaved the speaker vents?

Just wondering. I'm planning on moving front speakers to the kick panels for better sound imaging. I thought why not shave the speaker vents in the dash also since wont be using them and my dash is cracked.

Any thoughts on this or has anyone done this? Good idea/bad idea??

If you recover the top then I say go for it. If youre just going to fill in the holes then I doubt its ever going to look right.
