Ouch sorry for the damage.I hope no one was hurt.I know how you feel Aaron. It's good the hit was more to the side.Head on you would have cut the deer's legs and brought it up onto the hood and possibly the windshield
In '92 I was driving my 2 month old Silverado and out pops a deer.We looked at each other and probably the same thing crossed his mind as did mine.Well before my bumper and fender did.$3500 damage to a brand new truck.Deer whistles may or may not be snake oil but every vehicle I've owned since has had them.

Question: If you hit a deer (or a deer hits you for that matteR), will insurance cover the damage or do you have to pay for it outta your pocket?????

Depends on the insurance coverage you have, if you have Full coverage, yes, if you have just liability, no.

Its normally covered under comprehensive and not collision. Had the same happen to my mother's Toyota and comprehensive covered all but the $50 deductable.

That is why I am a supporter of HUNTING! I work for a rental car company, and I picked up a lady from a body shop that hit a deer, and was a peta activist, and I asked her if it changed her mind on hunting, but it just made her mad.

Sorry to hear and see pics of your BEAUTIFUL thirden smashed. I hope it makes a nice recovery.

Sorry for the lack of responses guys, but I had alot of work to do on my wifes Envoy (intake gaskets). To answer your questions it was 63 degrees out friday night and I took it for a spin. I then turned onto a stretch of road and got on it about 3/4 throttle and then I saw it running torwards the road, I was going about 60 I jammed on the brakes and swerved but I hit it going about 30 or so. The only thing I remember is seeing my headlight flying about 20 feet in the air. I only have liability insurance on it.

Go talk to the DMACC Body shop instructors, they should be able to help you get it fixed at a very reasonable price.

I hit a deer at 55 with the car in my sig. It bounced over the hood and took the headlight with it. Outside of a slightly warped hood, a broken headlight housing, and some missing paint from the bumper cover, the damage was minimal. Good luck with it

good thing I live in good ole socal!! I remember one night while I was driving on the street this cat decides to run accross and I was going 30mph and that little sucker ran RIGHT UNDERNEATH the car while I was going 30mph and he didnt not get squished!!! but probably burned because I was driving that car for like 8 hours straight, burned by the catalytic converter.... I turned around and looked for the cat but it was no where in sight.. what was amazing is thatmy car is low and it managed to run under it without getting killed.

I had a scare with deer the other night. I live in Boston, so I've never seen a deer on the road before, but I was college and took the camaro for a ride with some buddies. I was cruising at about 65 when a doe and its fawn humbly waltz out into the middle of the road. Let me tell you they ain't jokin' when they use the term "deer-eyed" as I swerved around the suckas.

At least the deer weren't hurt though...Dunno how I'd feel about killin' a deer, lol.

Oh don't get me wrong...I'm a huge fan of deer, esspecially cured deer meat...But I couldn't see myself pickin' the deer up and taking him back home with me after nailing him with a 3300 pound car.

You havn't been in Iowa then, if you go a day in iowa without seeing a deer, you start to wonder if some bad envriomental thing has happened.

Although i feel, anything stupid enough to run out infront of a 3500 lb hunk of steel moving at 60+ mph, it deserves to die.

Well, I'm sure it hurt the deer more than it hurt you. And I know how you feel. Well not exactly, I got rear ended in a parking lot the other day (realized it when I got home ) and was pretty pissed. But that whole deer thing sucks way more.
