has anyone actually put a notchback on there third gen. I've heard losts about them and seen them for sale on hawks website but i have not sctually seen one on a camaro.

 

I saw one on a 86 or 87 White Iroc that was for sale on eBay last year when I was looking for a car. I almost bought it.

It looks good, different than with the glass hatch, but good.

 

there's a few members on here with a notch on a camaro... looks good, but not my style

 

I seen one a real long time ago.. And Im looking for a used one now for mine.. I think thay look great on are f-bodys..

 

I used to have one on my old 89 IROC...

I now have one on my 86 T/A. I found it at the boneyard for about 39.00. My son and I are sanding it down and have it mostly fitted so far.

It certainly does draw alot of attention as it is very different looking from a stock camaro hatch

 

I have been looking for one for ages now.. There so hard to find used.. And a new one cost more than the car I bouhgt..

 

i had one on my car looked great but go a deal on a fourth gen spoiler. i like this one better.

 

Thats cool.. But I would love to find one like Jim Berry did in a bone yard..

 

Yep , that Notchback does make the F Body Camaro Look More Meaner . Does anyone have any Pics of the Notchback on a 3RD Gen. Pontiac Trans Am or Formula ? Just Wondering what it would Look Like on One of Them .

It sucks the search is down there are a lot of pics here at TGO. I am a notchback fan too and hope to pick one up someday.

 

is that like the factory notchback that came on the pontiac or is it aftermarket type? I can't tell in the pictures but it looks like the part behind the b pillar comes back farther than the factory ones. Either way you inspired me to get one for my project Iroc

 

I have never heard of a factory Notchback.. Only aftermarket as far as I know of..

 

88 and 89 GTA's had the option. That's why I asked.

No mine is not a factory notch but it is similar mine was make by motion and actually does not come back quite as far as far as a factory one

I liked mine but I had problems with it leaking on my backseats so I sold it. My buddy has an original notchback GTA and he is having some problems with his rear window trim and can not find replacments just a heads up on some of the drawbacks. However if you like the look it is worth the creativity to work out the problems

 

i had one one one of my irocs. form aerotech styling, the notchback the was fashioned after the ferrari testarossa . it also leaked. but with a tube of black silicone i fixed it. was definitely an attention getter.

 

question, how does the notchback work with the backseats? I know they originally had different backseats, but i don't know the difference in them.

 

Now If only I had any luck and could find one.....

The regular backseats don't interfere with it, but I haven't really tried to sit back there... the original had headreasts installed... The mount for the strut is a couple inches lower in the car.

That is not an original Notch from Pontiac. I emailed the seller informing them of that. Just letting people know

 

I told the seller that it isnt factory and he started cursing at me! Hahaha

 

I guess he is an idiot, I saw this post and saw that on the bay, good call.

 

Maybe we all should tell tell him.. I this some 200+ emails might give him a clue..

 

He sounds like a crook to me. I also emailed the high bidder the notch wasnt factory. At least he has some chance then of not getting scammed

 

Whats really sad is I want one.. But the shipping on that one would be more than the notchback itself..

 

I am buying a 3rd hatch soon, just hope its a true notch not just like the one in the ad. Dont have anything to put it on though....

 

U have 2 and getting a 3rd with nothing to put it on?!?! Now that just not fair.. I have looking for one for a few years and havnt seen one that wasnt distroyed.. But thats life...

 

Ehh well I am getting a good deal on it and I would rather not see it end up in the trash. My hatches were both shipped to me. The first one came cracked, broken by the shipper. I dont know enough about fiberglass yet to fix it, but I dont want to get rid of it so I never used that one. The second one is on my 88 but i am junking the car and wont go on my 91 until I am ready to paint it. My friend is debating on buying it from me but he isnt sure he wants it on the Camaro. It doesnt sound like it has the glass though, so if I want to use it I would have to get it custom cut

 

I dont know where U are.. But here to get flat glass custom cut ( if its truly flat glass ) its pretty cheap.. I just had my glass made for my 1960 F-100 and the whole job cost me $95 for all the glass less the windshield..
