I'm sure that most people on here know about www.gmpartsdirect.com. Not too sure on how many people have used them. I personally have used them and they are great. The prices for the parts are very reasonable. Shipping can be a little bit higher, but you are still making out better than most. Anyway, these just came in the mail today from DHL. Geez, everyday for me is like Christmas!! Here are some pics that I took of what came in, and the close up shot of the part number(s). Now the front spoiler goes for $146.52 and the air dam was $17.48. Shipping and Handling was ouch $44.90 for a total of $208.90. Now, if some people think that this is a high price consider that almost every seller on ebay who has a listing for a 91-92 front spoiler is starting their bids out at around $200-$225 and then they rape you on shipping too. Not to mention that it might have tears in it, is not the right color, or has paint peeling/chipping issues. This new piece is a flat black primer and is ready to paint it seems. Just though I would let you know...

Nice. I just picked up a spoiler at the JY for 20 bucks. One tiny 3/16 inch tear on the bottom drivers side, and needs paint. Also got hatch and hood struts for 10dollars and a perfect dash pad for 20.

Because GM Parts Direct charges 20% for shipping (this is where they make their markup... they're selling the parts at cost), often you can do better at your local GM dealer. I'd get prices from them before you go through GMPartsdirect. At least then, you'll know you're getting the better deal regardless of which place winds up being cheaper.

I never knew that about their shipping charge being 20%, that's good to know. I live in FL, and most of the Chevrolet dealerships around here don't even have part for our cars at all. They say that they stock parts for 10 years worth of any model and after that most of the parts are discontinued. I work at Lexus and my parts department can get parts for the first model year LS400, and that was back in 1989!

If gmpartsdirect can get it, so can your local dealer. Gmpartsdirect is nothing more than some parts manager's great idea to boost sales for that dealership. I forget what dealership runs that site, but they have the same access to the same warehouses that every other GM dealer has.

While that is probably true...I would much rather spend alittle extra cash, NOT have to deal with an idiot behind the counter, and have it delievered right to my door. The GM dealership near me never seems to know how to, or even want to help me out. Especially when you start mixing years and makes. Such as wanting 4th gen parts, but when they ask you for a VIN, you tell them its for your 87 TA... If you have the part number, plug it in, pay with a credit card and wait a few days for it to come to your house.

On the other hand...if the part you ordered is not correct, or broken, Ill bet its much easier to return it at the dealer. Once its dropped off at your house, returning it is difficult with gmpartsdirect.com.

Both options have pros and cons.

Deal with Dal instead, sometimes its a little slow in replys to emails but overall he is great. Shipping is exactly what it costs and markup is 5% over dealer cost. Dont take AMEX because they take 5% from the sale

They must have changed their pricing structure then, because back when I looked into ordering from them a few times, it was the same thing all the time. Their price was the same as my local dealer's cost, and shipping was always 20% of that cost no matter what I wanted to order.

For giggles I just ran a couple part numbers, and their pricing certainly is much different than it used to be.

well to answer your question... yes.

GMPartsdirect has some kinda wierd method for calculating shipping. I ordered a 1LE prop valve, 82 Z28 plastic hood struts, and the little fasteners that hold on the 91-92 Formula grilles...

The shipping on the prop valve and hood struts was their normal (bend you over) shipping cost. But the grille fasteners were insane. Each one cost like $2.50 and the shipping (on each) was like $90.00. The grilles are in the "bumper" category and I think they computed the shipping like I ordered a bunch of bumpers. My order total was about a grand.

So, I emailed them with the PN# and explained that the lot of them would fit in the palm of my hand and weigh less than a pound. I recieved an email back letting me know they changed the shipping cost on that part number. When I placed my order, the shipping for all the fasteners was $9.95 (still way too much but I was already ordering from them & it came out the same as if I went to the dealer and paid more but didn't pay shipping).

I got a brand new front fascia and a fiberglass headlight support thingy at my local dealer for a total of less than $300, cuz I know the lady behind the counter and she gave me some kind of discount. Shizam!

If you go to deadbird's site, www.deadbird.org, you will be able to find GM part numbers for alot of parts. Its a great site with diagrams too!
