seat back adjustment
My driver's seat leans back to far in the most upright position. I had this problem in my old Monte Carlo SS, but in that car there was a platic panel on the side of the seat that covered two bolts. These were used to adjust the angle of the seat back. These f-body seats don't have that panel like the g-body. Are the bolts still there, just under the cloth? Can this adjustment be made on these seats? I've recently developed a very stiff neck so this has to go. The picutre attached illustrates my dilema. You can see the difference between the driver and passenger seat. Thanks guys.

Just wondering, is the seat back actually the part of the seat that is worn so it leans back further, or is it that the hole seat is worn on the studs that it leans back altogether? Perhaps the internals are worn and need replaced or tightened. I guess you could also buy new seats if your concerned about your posture when you sit in your car. Maybe some 4th gen seats would work better where you can adjust the lumbar of the seat to help the angle for you.

Well I'm not really looking to replace my seats, especially since my passenger seat is in great shape. As far as I can tell the only problem is that the seat back is leaning back too far it makes driving rather uncomfortable. I have a small pillow that I put behind my neck, but that only does so much. I have a rather long road trip coming up soon and that will suck if I can't fix this problem. If there are common causes and repairs to this problem I'd love to hear them. If something needs to be replace or tightned what exactly is it?

Does the handle to recline the seat back "hang" or not return back all the way. There is a small spring attched to the handle to fully seat the handle all the way back.If the spring is missing or broken the seat back will sometimes lean back a little. Also are you sure the setaback frame is NOT bent in some way.Ive seen this happen with bucket seats in the past. The seat back recline mechanism also has a flat coiled spring that may be loose form its latched position. You'll have to remove some of the fabric/plastic.Since the recline is under those areasThats also where the 2 bolts your refering to may be, but as far as i know the seat back is not adjustable that way on these cars?.Thats about all i can think of right now.BTW,your pic is very big & doesnt offer a overall veiw!

Naw man i got the same problem but mine leans back alot farther than yours, ofcourse being 6'1", 240 doesnt help any, they tell me just to grab a seat out of another camaro and just reupholster it, but i want something strong and sturdy so im going to buy some racing seats and reupholster them , my uncle owns an interior shop in SA so i get a pretty good deal...............

Okay, if anyone cares this adjustment is possible. I had to remove the seat from the vehicle, and remove the little plastic cover from the reclining mechanism. You can then pull the fabric up a little on the left side of the seat far enough to actually see the first bolt. Unfortunately you have to feel your way up a little higher with a wrench, but only a few inches above that bolt is the second bolt. Loosen them both, pivot the seat back properly (which in my opinion is pushing the top of the seat forward and the bottm backward) and retighten the bolts. Of course having a buddy help you hold the seat in position helps. They are easy to strip out from overtightening so you have to be careful. Hopefully it is enough for my neck.
