Can i strip my bumper
I am in the process of painting my car and the paint on my front bumper is really chipped and cracking. I was wondering if their is a way to strip the paint off besides sanding if off and if anyone has done it. I was thinking of using paint striper or airplane striper but will that harm the bumper.

Not sure about the plastic primer, but they sell regular aircraft stripper and some lighter stuff designed for fiberglass. I know the fiberglass safe stuff wont hurt the poly., but the regular shouldnt hurt it either. Just check the back of the container to be certain. That aircraft stripper rocks, so i would definitely use that.

if you leave the aircraft stripper on the poly to long it will start to melt it... you would want to ues the fiberglass stuff.. should be a bit safer

Plastic primer means it has flex compound in it letting it flex rather that just crack. I have used the aircraft stripper before its just shy of sulfuric acid in my book. Ill give the stuff that is safe for fiberglass a shot, i have an old bumper, ill try it on their first. Also can you get the fiberglass safe stuff from autozone or do you have to get it from a paint store.

Well u could just use reg primmer and add a flex agent to it.. U might want to check with your paint suppiler. Some of the paints u do not need to add flex to the primer.or clear
I allways send my bumpers out to keystone. They media blast them and them prime them with a water born primmer. For 70 bucks a bumper. All i have to do is scuff it and paint it. How I look at it comes out way better and cheaper.
