Rear Hatch Lock Unit Question

I peeled off my back panel, and found this:

Tell me, is that what a manual hatch lock unit looks like? Just seems like alot of useless stuff for a manual hatch.

Don't bother telling me to search, because I have and found 0.

Care to explain? Does that mean me installing a button for electric hatch release, it should pop?

There are two parts to the hatch release assembly. The solenoid, which "pops" the trunk. And the motor which moves the trunk lid up and down. I see a motor there, so when you close your hatch it should pull it down. I don't really see a solenoid but I'm not sure since the later years are a bit different than my 89's trunk. You can buy the solenoid if there isn't one there, wire a switch to send 12V to it, then it will pop your trunk.

You need to post a picture of the other side of the pull-down motor. From that shot I can't tell if the striker-sensing switch is present. I have fewer parts available for the 91-92 style pull-down motor, (which is what you have). I do stock the guides, striker-sensing switch, reversing switch and gear nut.

Post a close-up picture of it from the rear of the car. The opposite side of what you've shown so far is where the striker-sensing switch is located. Also does your hatch light turn off when the hatch is closed?

The switch is there, but the hatch light failing to work means either the fuse or the switch is bad. The striker-sensing switch on your 91-92 pull-down motor turns on and off the hatch light.

Ok, Ill check the fuse first. You dont know off the top of your head which fuse it would be, would you?

If the fuse turns out to be good, Ill have to replace the striker switch, right? Will I need the reversing switch and relay too?
