Momo steering wheels

I'd like to find out if anyone here is using a Momo steering wheel in their thirdgen - and if so, how does it fit? I've read that it requires an adapter which mounts the wheel about an inch closer to the driver, & I'm not sure if I'd like that or not...

Thoughts, comments, feedback?

Thanks in advance guys.

OK, so who's heard of Momo wheels? Anyone?

Would this question be more suited for one of the other forums?

There are a couple guys using them. I have always had my eye on the Momo Champion, but until I get more suede in the car, I decided to go with a Grant 1130.

Did you try doing a search? I know there are a couple guys using one of the newer Momos in their cars.

I love the way those Momo wheels look. Probably going to consider investing in one when I redo the maro.

You need an adapter to fit, but once it's on, you will fall in love with it.

You can find the adapter and some wheels here:
Thunder Racing - Steering Wheels for your 1982-1992 F-Body

This is what I have:

Seemed to mount it a little father away actually. But then again I had the airbag wheel before this one.

Thanks for the replies all, that's exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for!

That wheel looks sharp, iansane, & is one of the two I was thinking of getting...

I have the "Tuner" wheel, love it! The adapter put it in exactly the same spot as the OEM wheel in my case. Also, get the larger versions that are offered (350mm) or you'll think your in a low rider!!

Don't mean to be a "grave digger", but I want to be sure what you mean here... You're drawing a parallel between the smaller Momo wheels & the tiny-diameter chain wheels?

Thanks for the reply.

I was attempting humor, but the smaller diameter will look really small in one of our cars. Probably feel silly too IMHO...

Like I said in the email, check out an auction like this;

eBay Motors: MOMO HUB ADAPTER KIT 82-92 CAMARO RS Z28 SS IROC Z (item 160014094767 end time Sep-29-06 20:30:49 PDT)

You could always email them for a part number as well. (I lost mine years ago) so you could find it some place locally.

I have the Momo V6 wheel and Im very pleased with it. The adapter did move it a little closer so that now I have to stretch my fingers to reach the turnsignal lever. No big deal.

I've got the Momo millenium wheel too. So much better than the stock one.

iansane, where did you get the firebird centre from? mine has the normal momo centre.

I made it. Just took a spare stocker I had, shaved some off the backside so it'd still activate the horn and fit it in.

I bought an adapter to fit my momo wheel to my 91 camaro from ebay, the part number stamped on it is k2401 but it is too small in diameter & fouls the housing around the column preventing the splines engaging.

It measures 4 & 1/16 inches in diameter externally at the base yet the housing is 4& 2/8 inches.

Please can someone help as i've had a momo wheel gathering dust for months.

I have even bought a secondhand steering column from a 96 firebird to try curing the play in the tilt & this has the same diameter housing.

I just pulled out the box from my Momo, it's marked "2401" as well and mine fit like a glove. Is it possible that 3rd gen "airbag cars" have different splines or columns? I thought it was only wiring differences, and I didn't know a 4th gen column would even fit! Do you have any pics of the adapter, it could be misboxed...

I don't remember the part number but the adapter I got fit my 87 non airbag bird but rubbed on the inside of the my 91 airbag equipped bird. The splines were fine, I just had to trim down the outer plastic shell and it fit fine.
