E-Brake Handle Stuck

Alright, ever since I replaced my carpet the E-brake handle cover/button has been vibrating and rattling. Needless to say, this gets pretty annoying at red lights and on the turnpike. So, in a stroke of genius, I decided to remove the e-brake handle cover and fill it with silicone gasket sealant, figuring that would absorb the vibration. In retrospect, this was not my best moment.

The handle cover/button still vibrates and now I can't get the damn thing off. Anyone know how to overcome the silicone? I was thinking a hair dryer to warm it up a bit. Maybe even a heat gun, but I don't want to melt away my interior. Thanks a lot.
