I wish mine were only that bad on the inside. Mine is full of dirt wasps and their nests. It is so full of dirt that I could even adjust the mirror anymore, lol. But taking them apart ever now and then to clean it out is a good idea.

How do you actually get the mirror off?, my drivers side mirror has a wasp nest in it. I would love to finnally get that little devil out.

I think that will work. if not search for "how do I take apart a power mirror"
I should post pictures when I get my second power mirror as well.

I just checked and that link apears to work ok, the thing is there are two methods discussed in that thread, I just pried the mirror loose from the rest of it. look for the "cross" shaped metal piece and "pop" it loose from the motor assembly, once it is apart it is very clear. LOL I'm sure that helps loads.

oh yeah, look at the second picture I posted, the metal cross on the back of the mirror is what we are talking about, and somewhere under the cobwebs you can just make out where they snap into the motor behind it. anyway, a little constant pressure and those round points come out of the grooves they are snapped into and the whole mirror is free from the housing.
hope that helps.

Hi all,
Does anyone know if just the black plastic mirror backing can be purchased or do you have to buy a whole new mirror assembly?
The mirror fell out of mine, so all I need is just the plastic backing with the cross and threaded ball joint thinggys. The motor and everything else is fine.
Also being in Australia doesn't help, as nearly all the parts have to come over from the US ...
Thanks,
