Ok, it's been out for a while. my question is in regards to the factory welds.
Since I have the entire interior out and all the metal is showing, would you guys suggest that I have a body shop add some strengtrh to the factory welds? If so would it be spot welds to the seams and what not? Will this improve the chasis strength and reduce all the creaks I get coming from the body?
I'm sending the car to have a small rust hole fixed in the floorboards, and while it's there I figure I might as well take care of this at the same time.

oops, mispelled question lol

You want extra strength add SFC's, a strut tower brace and sway bars, etc. Sure a little interior welding won't hurt, but it really won't help either!

I have the spohn SFC units installed on my car and this is probably the best time to do it in your case. I had to pull the carpet out so the welding wouldn't burn holes in the carpet and is actually suggested by spohn for that very reason. Now is as good a time as any. It will also make your car alot more rigid and better handling.

Thanks for the responses guys. I really want to go with the SFC's and like you said, now is probably the best time to go for it!
I was thinkking of the SFCs from UMI. Do you guys have any thoughts on those SFCs?

i dunno, if ya think about it if you add welds to all of the places that come together and all of those places have some amount of flex all together i can see where it would make for a tighter platform.
same as when doing mods to a motor, a K&N wont do much but porting the runners, base, and plenum, airfoil and headers you will see some gains. same goes for body strength. i was under my car and just so happen to grab one of hte frame rails around where the SFC is mounted and i heard it creek.
if those places were more firmly tied together the structure would profit from this thus having less rattles all around.

A good welder shouldn't have to remove the carpet by the way. Mine stayed in throughout the installation.

Eh the spohn instructions state this plus I had to replace the carpet anyway so I pulled it. I was mearly going with what the instructions. Plus welders work varies so this may be a better course of action for him.

SFC's make an amazing difference, I recommended them to a co-worker, and he actually went out and just bought a set of Spohn SFC's for himself, haha.
Now to get them on the car...
If i was to go buy another 3rd gen tomorrow, I would immediately order a set of Spohn SFC's and his wonderbar too.
