How to replace quarterpanels
What is involved in removing and installing quarterpanels? Is it a lot of welding or something someone with some experience could do? Also how do you remove a door?
Heres some basic walkthroughs on the methods of
welding a rear quarter patch in: 11_steps
glue a patch in glue_on_pnl
Welding is the best way of course but if the application is adhession friendly then a person who knows how to do it could patch certain panels without any welding skills.

i would say that you really need to have a shop install it, esspecialy if you dont have much experence welding. (shop class doesnt count as experence) you should be I-CAR certified before thinking about welding on anything that will be on something capabale of over 40mph speeds. its just a safty factor, with cars, i always say, "do it right the first time, or there might not be a second time." think about that, if not for you, at least keep your Girlfriend/Wife/Kids safe.

and what exactly do you mean by door? the whole door with glass and everything, or the door skin?

The door comes off with six bolts. Three you will have to get at with box wrenches from the jam. The other three you can access from the inside of the car, by removing the trim piece directly inside the door, and ripping through the tar paper covering the hole. It is a two person job, one to support the door and the other to loosen the bolts.
Installing new quarters is a lot of work. If you have never done it before and you want it to turn out nice, get some experience by doing it on someone elses car. Welding in a new panel is something that takes fairly good welding skills and a lot of patience. Another problem is that there is a lot of junk sheet metal being sold that is made over seas. I would suggest replacing the entire panel with an original GM unit if the car is nice otherwise.
