When i close it it locks but it doesnt shut all the way no were near were its suppose to come down to how can i fix this? I thought about the 1986-91 Deluxe Hatch Pull-Down Repair Kit for tds will this do the trick?

Whether the deluxe hatch repair kit will solve the problem depends on what is wrong with yours. If yours it caused by a cracked hatch motor housing then yes. If you have a bad fuse, bad striker-sensing switch or bad reversing switch, then no. First thing to do is remove the hatch surround trim and investigate a few things. First check that you have power at the red with white stipe wire that is plugged into the blue wire. If not, then check the fuse. On Camaro it is the #3 fuse (top row, third column from the left). On Firebird it is an inline fuse adjacent to the fuse panel.

It sounds as if your motor housing is broken. The motor housing is the clear plastic part that the motor slips into. It also contains the gear nut. It is common for them to break where the 3 screws mount it to the frame of the pull-down unit due to someone slamming the hatch. I reinforce them with aluminum and epoxy in that area and sell it as TDS 103121, $42.50. Download the instructions for TDS 101170 from the lower right side of my site or download the tech article I wrote from Thirdgen.org so you'll know how to properly disassemble it without breaking it.

you could try to move the motor up a few pegs and maybe it would catch, cause its on like a slide track
