rust free sheet metal

Just want your input on this subject. Is there a market for rust free 3rd Gen sheet metal out there, and what would your concerns be in purchasing it or other used 3rd Gen parts like steering colunms or engine parts? Thanks.

I don't know where you are from. But if I understand right, you mean quarter panels, fenders, engine parts etc. If so, then Cross Canada has some after market body panels. They say on their site "Visit Us On Ebay" so I'd imagine that they'd ship to you if you live in the states. Here's a Link Cross Canada - Canada's Leading Aftermarket Auto Replacement Distributor. I'm sorry if I misunderstood you and this info is useless

You got it. Here in the southwest I'm surrounded by lots of good parts. Seems a shame to see it crushed. Originally from up north so I know what cars are like there. There is a market for older, as in 50s or 60s cars, but what about 3rd gens?

David Ts camaro does that here in alberta. Rapes you on the price and makes a killing. He wanted 80 bucks for the small ground effects piece behind the rear wheel. I say no way in hell.

i think there's a pretty good market for third gens especially floorpans and quarters since that seems to be where they rust the worst.

im not going to lie, ive been looking for about 5 months now for decent rear quarters ( BRAN NEW of course ) and ive been to cross canada head office.. the sheet metal they use is like a pop can.. its so thin if it takes a hit . its going to dent. regardless. i found another decent camaro at a scrap yard.. and i cut the car in half. i am this weekend, cutting out the rear quarters and ya. hopefully there is not much/no rust in these panels..

ive heard from just about everyone what im doing is dumb. however. i do not see a reason to put extremely thin sheet metal onto my camaro if i am wanting to keep it for a few years. also.. i have a mig welder. i can always weld in new parts.. i ahve seen some people do some amazing things. and im not saying it will turn out perfect 100% however.. i work my *** off on this car im going to be pissed if i weld on those thin quarters and i get the smallest dent in it.

this is just my reasoning.

Douglas

***** also... according to chevrolet, they have stopped production on replacement body parts for this car.....******* you must now go aftermarket

Thanks for the info about Cross Canada Camaro_boy. I haven't purchased any parts from them yet, I've just seen that they sell it. I'll be sure to steer clear from them.

Good luck on your car. Post some pics of the progress. I'd like to see how it turns out

Will look at rear quarters and floor pans tomorrow. Also shipping prices. Originally I was thinking easier to pull pieces like front fenders and smaller parts, but there are plenty of other larger parts in great condition here. Thanks for all your comments.

crazy crocket - I can get you that piece you talked about for $20, plus shipping. Sometimes when you break up a set it costs more. If you want, let me know your exact application and I'll check my stuff, I know I saw two today. For those of you that were looking at floorpans and rear quarters I have access to some good stuff. Quarters I can see shipping. Whole floorpans might take some doing. I'll check with UPS and FedEx. What about partial floorpan pieces?

I am looking for a driver rear inner wheel well. Mine is rusted out in a couple spots. Let me know what you can do.

Will look next week or maybe this weekend. Have to work tomorrow all day. I know I have cars to get one from. I'll look tomorrow and e-mail you after I get back from a college football game, around 11:00 PM Mountain Time.

If you are interested in making some money, you might want to sell smaller floor pan sections.Alot of people do not need or want to have to buy the whole floor pan just to repair a certain section.Start cutting out the areas behind the front seats where they rust and near the front toe kick along the rocker panels where they rust also. You could probably sell those pretty good and they are small enough to ship pretty easily.I think alot of people would jump on those (including me) if you offered those up for sale.

floorpans

I have a car I'm ready to cut up for rear quarters and the floorpan is excellent, even the converter heat shield is mint. What part of it were you looking for? Anybody else out there interested in floor sections?

I need an entire floor pan - both sides, front to rear including under the rear seats... Let me know what you can do inlcuding shipping.

Need the rockers too, could it all be cut out and welded in as one or two peices?

I also need rear quarters, don't need the full thing but most of the passenger side and just the lower section around the wheel well on the drivers side.

Let me know if you want to make a deal.

Ricco and Roc Me 2

I took some pictures today and will try to post them or e-mail to you. Too bad I didn't see your post about the quarters until I got home or I could have gotten a picture of them too. The stuff is from a 91' Firebird, and is clean. Roc Me 2 where in northren Il. are you? I have a car of mine in Mt Morris near Sterling. E-mail me at brian.schuetta@us.army.mil. to talk prices. Thanks.
