T-top Stability

How stable are t-tops at high speeds? I have a project in mind and I'm looking for a third-gen to work with but I need to know whether I should even consider one with t-tops. I'd imagine losing a t-top at 150+ would be a bit traumatic.

Well, so far so good with mine at 120 mph. I'd think if they're properly latched they should be fine.

I dont see how they could come off, the r locked in with a mechanism similar to a deadbolt.

I have had my T-Top car over 145mph (The speedo wouldn't go any higher) on 3 different occasions, and have had no issue

140+ many times with T-tops on both of my cars and no issues.
I've heard that the lexan t-tops "lift up" a bit at high speeds though.
I've got a set of lexan, maybe I'll put them on and see for myself.

I thought there was a problem with the earlier versions of the T tops. I dont remember exactly but I think it had something to do with the hook style and the other latching style. But you gotta really be pushing the car for the T tops to come flying out

its pretty much impossible. the bars from the t tops slide into the body. i dont think i could kick mine out without a fight.

I launched one at about 80MPH driving down the interstate, but I forgot to latch that one down so it was my fault. Never heard of anyone loosing one that was latched properly....

I've done serious speed in the my 87 no problem, likewise with the 1990, the 77 TA however, had a much different
latching system and would lift @ 100 or so ... pretty scary the 1st time it happened ... LOL

Oh ya I had the drivers side slide backing out the driveway one time ... but I hadn't latched it
