Ram Air I Hood from Hawks
Hey... I'm sure there's a topic on this somewhere, but my searches came up with nothing, soooo
I was wondering if anyone has bought the ram air I hood (the one styled after the early 4th gens) from Hawks? They say on their website that it's non-functional, but I was speaking with someone there though email, and they said the only reason it's not functional is because it wasn't molded with holes. He also said it was very possible to cut the holes into the hood, but the reason they don't mold it that way was because of there needs to be modification done under the hood to make the intake fit.
Now, my boyfriend is very skilled in fiberglass, pretty much anything working with his hands and/or on cars. So cutting the holes wouldn't be a big issue, if it can be done easily enough.
Has anyone bought a hood from hawks and then cut the holes into it? How difficult was it?
He slipped that he bought me the hood for my b-day comin' up, so it's already in the works. (And I personally don't like the Ram Air II hood on the 3rd gen). It would just be pretty stupid to have a non-functional ram air hood on my car...

first of all let me state that it is so cool for a woman to get into these cars
BRAVO!
I dont care how long of a drive or the premium that I would have to pay, I want to see the fit of the hood before I pay the big bucks.
I know this doesnt help very much, know that these hoods sometimes come out great and most come out junk from the mold. Take a road trip and get a hood that fits.
It will be fun!

Well, I have my heart set on a ram air I hood, and I don't think I have much choice but to get one that came out of a mold, since they were never a factory hood. I've considered the option of getting a used one, but because of the age of our cars, it's most likely not going to fit my car exactly the same as the car it came off of. Besides that, I don't have a vehicle I can fit a hood into. I've read a lot of reviews on the hawks hoods, and have read mostly good stuff. I plan on inspecting it very well when it arrives, and if it looks to deformed, I plan to refuse the shipment. I realize I will most likely have to do some modification to the hood to make it fit just right, but again, my car is almost 16 years old now. The hood's already ordered though - birthday gift
