what I was told is that a bolt in is primarily for looks and a weld-in is for strength of the structure. I've got a bolt in....because I bascially wanted it for looks...probably provides a little strength compared to a weld in.

weld it in and be prepared to climb over it all the time, for a car that sees mainly strip duty it's fine, but for a DD it will be taxing on you everytime you want to get out. Don't forget that you can hit your head, arms, etc on it in a crash with no helmet on as well. Also on these cars, weld-in is the way to go unless you're using that bolt in 4 point which is not NHRA approved

Not to hijack this thread, but would a bolt on be something I should concider for the convertible or just go with the weld in???

I just want the back part, and not the one that goes accross the door panels!

no point in installing a 4 point cage realistically, since it isn't NHRA approved. It won't add much strength either since it's not tying the front to the back like a 6 or 8 point
